Hi all

Purchased a sink a while ago from ikea and only got around to fitting it. got a srpung waste from screwfix, fitted it all, but it seems to leak from around the seal and by the threads of the waste itself.

How can I fix this?

Any help appreciated

seal it round with silicone inside the flange that sits on the porcelain and the threads - with the waste fitting out - then drop it in and screw the nut up on the silicone ;) Or fit a basin mate

yes run a smear of clear silicone round the lip of the waste where it sits in the basin ans a bead of silicone around the thread then fit the washer/nut.

or fit a basin mate.

just purchased a basin mate

fitted 1 this evening, will do the other tomorrow

right its still leaking from where the basin mate meets the basin. Just from one end, but its leaking

Undo - add a smear of silicone - do up. That`ll sort it ;)

1. It's a basin not a sink - kitchen sink, wash hand basin ;)
2. Where's your sealing washer that fits between the backnut and basin?
3. These are a pain, I always run a bead around the slotted waste where it comes out of the bottom of the basin, then fit the washer, then tighten the backnut, then run another bead of silicone around the bottom of the nut to seal the thread a second time
