Litter

There's one thing that really bugs me about litter - MacDonalds. What is it about MacDonalds food packaging that makes it impossible for people to put it in a bin? I live in one of the few places in the world where there isn't a MacDonalds outlet for over 15miles, and yet we still get there rubbish all over the place. We have however got a KFC 4miles up the road and I can't say i've seen KFC rubbish all over the place. Do MacDonald's employees get paid to go around dropping litter on purpose as an advertising campaign?

I don't think it's the packaging that's the problem, it's the type of customers that a place like MacDonalds attracts...

are there a lot of immigrants in washington? take a trip round some of the countries that our main source of european immigrants come from and see how their attitude towards litter makes their verges look like proper council tips.

this is genuinely not a dig at immigrants in a racist manner BTW, just an observation. i have no doubt our own thoughtless citizens do as much littering.

You only need to phone a car reg to the local environmental offices to have a good chance of a prosecution.I've did it a few times. Cousin is an officer and they approach the car owner and ask them if they were driving the vehicle at a certain time/date and if they say yes , bingo.

They should be forced to gather up all the litter over a 10 mile stretch of road as punishment along with the fine.

They would prosecute on one person's say so? I just don't buy it.

They do try though, as a relative of mine was threatened with court over an alleged 'fag butt flung out of a car window'...

But of course one person's word is worthless - they just hope that you give in when faced with a threatening letter!

It's amazing though, how many pay up even if they've done nothing wrong!

That’s interesting. Let me get my "Hated" list out.

Yep. Thats what an environmental officer told me. All you need is the car reg.
Check it out with your local environmental office though , may be different from region to region.

That's a Load of B*llocks...And it doesn't matter what region you are in, as the same laws apply countrywide!

Don't be so gullible and don't believe what an officer of the council spouts as it's usually lies !

Ellal check it out here......

If the eho tells you something different then fair enough I've either misunderstood or I've been told lies. Though the latter I seriously doubt.
But anytime I call in a reg they just ask my name, where the incident happened/time etc and the reg and from that they can prosecute if the owner admits driving the car at said time/location.

Erm...and that link says what?

If you can point to ANY case where a CONTESTED offence has resulted in a conviction based purely (as you've claimed) on a vehicle reg, and even as you've now added, a person admitting they were at a 'said time/location', then please do so...

Council officers will lie as to 'having enough evidence' etc, when they have no case whatsoever...

And remember who's paying for this b*llshit!

I can't point to any cases and even if I did I don't think you would accept it.

I posted the link as thats the eho who has given me advice concerning this matter and I thought you might want to contact them to clarify the matter..
Granted I've never been to court to testify against someone but the eho in that link knows I am more than willing.

Very few people will contact their local eho with regard to people dropping litter. I've did it a number of times as litter on the road running through my property can have fatal consequences to the livestock.

I stand by what I was told regarding all that is needed for a prosecution and if you can provide any evidence to the contrary then please do so but I'll continue to let the eho be aware of car registrations when I see litter being dropped from them.

And remember who's paying for this b*llshit!

I personally don't care if someone innocent is fined for dropping litter.
It should act as a deterrent to others in any case.

I'd like to see them ( the guilty ones if possible) on a chain style gang picking up litter on a 10 mile stretch of road and then people might think twice about chucking their filth out of the car window.

Oh I'd accept it, but the fact that there aren't any you can point to says all we need to know about your original statement... ;)

That really is a pathetic argument isn't it!

But then when confronted with facts, you have no sane answer as usual !

Fair enough I've probably misunderstood what I was told and apologise for misleading anyone.

Fair's fair to you for that...

But it's amazing how often 'officials' try and convince people that they should just submit to 'summary justice' when there are no legal grounds for any action!
