Getting quite a few petrol driven washers in these days - all with cracked pump head castings. They are all Chinese machines.
The official line is not to let the machine run for more than 30 sec without the lance trigger being depressed.....as the machine is still trying to pump, the pressurised water tries to boil, and once you press the trigger cold water enters the pump causing the crack.
This may or may not be true - personally I believe that a brass casting would prevent this but no matter. If the machine is used exactly as per the recommendations, they last well enough.
New pumps = £68, which is nowt really.
