hi all abit of help please.
had my old myson boiler ripped out last week and had a new glowworm flexicom heat only boiler put in. now the problem.
the gas engineer is not allowed to do any electric work just like for like etc.
so had the boiler working etc. he put a new controller in for the c/heat and hot water, this controls the actuator (3 way valve) the boiler carried on running even though the controller had finished its timer function. having tried to sort this the engineer turned the cylinder thermostat off. this solved the problem but now the water didnt get hot. once i turn the cylinder stat up to say 50deg the boiler again works when the controller has finished its timed function. the 3 way valve is a danfoss hs 3 i think. any tips please

We read what you say but that leaves me wondering about what you have not said.

Have you paid this fellow to replace your boiler yourself?

Clearly the heating system is not working correctly!

Did it work before?

What does this fellow say about it not working now?

What does he propose to do the fix it?

If he does not have the required skill then he should engage someone ( at his cost ) who does!

Tony

ok the engineer replaced my myson boiler etc the only problem being the somewhat diy wiring of the old controller (potterton ep2002) he knows the wire from somewhere is becoming live and staying live ? the boiler works ok and he is getting the correct person to solve it. i just asked to see if i could help in some way ?

How on earth someone can class themselves as a heating enginer but can't sort out a simple y plan is beyond me.
Without poking around the wiring its hard to say anything more than it's wired wrong. Could be as simple as the programmer has been bypassed so the cylinder stat is the only thing controlling the boiler.

sounds like the timer has been wired incorrectly, from what you say he has made the hw on permanently live

thanks for the info guys. think i will need to wait till the guy sorts it (away on holiday) the new controller is a salus ep200. for now i have used it this way turn on for a timed 1 hour runs ok burner in and out etc after the hour the controller turns off but boiler will carry on etc

as a rule what temp should i set the cylinder thermostat ?
as its a heat only boiler what should i set the temp on the boiler ? thanks

thanks for all your info
can someone tell me the correct wiring from the actuator
4 wires from it danfoss
grey
blue
orange
brown/white
at the moment
grey goes to no 4 (salus 200)
blue goes to connection on boiler
orange goes to connection on boiler
brown/white goes to no 1 (salus 200)
other connections on salus 200 are
N blue to boiler,
L to boiler,
2 has nothing connected ?
3 to isolator

pump 2 wires go to the boiler
cylinder stat has 2 wires going to
blue goes to actuator brown/white
red goes to isolator
yellow goes to actuator orange
there is a perm live going into the boiler but i carnt see where it is connected
i dont understand why no wires are on no 2 ?

hope this helps
i think the engineer disconnected one of the wires on the actuator (grey)
all i know the system worked before the new boiler
your tips will be great chris

ok sorted the wiring out boiler works ok. when i switch the boiler off using the controller it now turns off. adjusted cylinder stat for the hot water, now ok.
the only prob i have now is, today first time use of the c/heating. turned on at the controller, boiler sounds like it is on but the burner doesnt come on ? now i have no room thermostat just trv,s on each radiator. just wondering if the actutor is not working (hot water ok)

sounds like you might struggle with regards to any future warranty calls to the boiler manufacturer.no roomstat means it doesnt comply to current regs. dare i ask if the benchmark book has been filled in?
and it also needs notifying to building control. just incase you need to claim on yer house insurance. ;)

Have you actually paid this fellow?

For the record you should NOT be paying him if he has not completed the Benchmark Certificate.

Many would also say if he has not notified the installation to Building Control either!

Tony

yes paid him and he filled in everything on the form etc. gas reg number everything needed. are you all saying i need a room thermostat ?
the boiler was ok its just that the c/heating was on at the same time as the hot water.
