Hello

Newbie post! :D

We've just moved into a property which has a fairly old gas central heating system. The current programmer is a Potterton EP2000 (lovely brown colour) which, whilst controlling the hot water and heating separately (i.e. we can have the heating on, hot water on, or both on) doesn't give me the flexibility/efficiency I'm after (i.e. I can't set separate on/off times for the CH and HW).
So, I've got a new EP2 which I want to set up as a 7 day, 3 'on/off' system and I was hoping that someone could confirm that my understanding of my current system is correct and it really is as simple as popping off the EP2000 and popping on the EP2?

In the airing cupboard is a hot water cylinder and nearby a single pump on a single vertical pipe with what I think is a pressure/air valve on the top. Off that pipe, above the pump, are two horizontal pipes, one of which goes into the hot water cylinder, the other takes a 90 degree downward turn and disappears into the floor. Each of the two horizontal pipes has a Honeywell valve attached.

So, my presumption is that the system would be classed as 'fully pumped', and that one of the valves controls the HW and the other the CH. Therefore, as these are already controlled by the separate hot water and central heating switches on the EP2000, they will work in exactly the same way with the EP2 and I don't need to do anything other than set the EP2 to operate as a 7 day independent 3 on/off programmer (ID 5 on the install guide) for a fully pumped system.

Am I close?

Many thanks!

Quite correct on that you have a fully pumped system. There was another post on here with someone trying and having problems setting the programmer for 3 operations per day. How is that done? I only ask so as to maybe help that poster.

Setting the programmes is easy and just a matter of following the prompts in the display.

If in any doubt, ask a 5yr old :D
