Hello all,

Instruction on paint aerosol is to not use acrylic lacquer clear coat.

What would the acrylic lacquer do to the paint, even if fully dropped and cured?

What lacquer product would be indicated for use with resin aerosol paint?

Tia :)

Tested it myself on a scrap piece of aluminium.

Spray paint went on fine, and left to dry and harden for a couple of days.

Acrylic lacquer applied.
Some sort of reaction occurred, where it looked like the acrylic crazed.

I would expect the solvent in the lacquer would soften the first coat, and if the solvent and first coat are incompatible then you have a problem.

I discovered that years ago when doing up my first motorbike.

I spent ages painting a petrol tank and got an excellent finish for a 16 year old, it took weeks.
Then sprayed a lacquer and it crazed - I nearly cried. I test everything now
