Mitre Saw

Hi All,

Looking at a budget Mitre saw as looking to start a few wood based jobs around the home. I have found two but not sure if they are any good or what the difference between the two are?

Either of those for a budget saw (the Einhell is double bevel, both have similar cross cut and depth of cut), but spending more on a professional quality tool with the right features will pay back in the long run, given what you're saving by doing these jobs yourself.

As blup says both okay, both will be a bit inaccurate on angle cutting and 90degree blade.
I have one from this price range, it is okay, but needs more time to set up when trying to cut accurately over more expensive version.
But I would buy again as don't use often enough for more expensive version.

Noting that I have not used or seen either, I would go for the Einhell TC SM2131 because it has a longer maximum cut length of 310mm x 62 mm over the Evolution 230mm x 65mm.
For me I need the 310mm cut length because I cut very tall skirting boards and wide planks. A 23cm cut length would be a a bit short for me.

Note that you should also consider this one as in same price (and lowish quality) range, and has a good cross cut spec of 310mm x 62mm:

I think you're better off buying a decent makita or dewalt second hand over spending on a lower grade but new saw.

I've had a couple of different evolution tools and I find them to be very cheaply made and assembled, decent for the money but they're nothing like my dewalt/bosch/makita saws.

The evolution Is fine, yes it isn't makita quality but it isn't makita price either. It'll cut square, the bevel/mitre cut works. You can cut a range of materials. Its also quite compact so you can move it round the house easily. Its a good tool for the money.

I've unfortunately had a different experience - I bought the Evolution mitre saw, and got truly fed up over its inability to cut consistently at 90 degrees (despite adjustment).

Additionally, the bore size on the Evolution is a non-standard size which limit your choice of blades *out of the box* to effectively one (the manufacturers own). You can get bore reducers which allow you to use others, but I didn't want to mess about with adapting something with 60 teeth spinning at 8000rpm.

I've since bought a DeWalt saw which has been perfect (in addition, the Freud blade that I've put on it gives a cut as smooth as glass which doesn't require any sanding). It *was* more expensive, so it will depend on how much use this saw will see, but it's been money well spent IMO.
