The relay is buzzing on the circuit board of my Glow Worm Ultimate boiler.

Can I repair it, or do I need a new board? Also is this something I need a Gas Safe engineer to do? I am a competent DIYer, and I was a qualified electrician, although not up to date with 18th edition.

Thanks.

Sorry, although you seem perfectly sensible we have to be aware of people reading this thread that may well have a go themselves.

I agree with Bernard this is not a DIY task. I'd recommend a proper old school gas engineer who is familiar with the Ultimate

How do you know the relay buzz is due to pcb being faulty

If it is an AC relay they buzz because of the laminations in the core, if they chatter then it is a different problem. Are you having any other problems other than a noise?

Often relays with DC coils "buzz" when the DC power supply smoothing capacitors are failing.

There is more to "changing a PCB" than just putting a "new" PCB in place of the old one.

It is NOT a DIY task

Various checks need to be carried out to prove the new PCB is working correctly and controlling gas to ensure safe combustion.

Which Gloworm Ultimate do you have ? there are a few ultimate pcbs
