Hi all, I've moved into a 30 or so year old house. It has an en-suite shower called (I believe) Essentials T. I need to replace it as I think the shower is as I said,30 years old and stopped working. However the water feed confuses me. It assists to have three water feeds in? Can anyone help me? What can I replace it with? Why is there three water feeds? I'm quite unsure and Google has done little to assist! Thanks!

Only 2 water pipes. The other will be carrying the electrical cable.

Its a power shower. Something like the Mira Event XS would be a similar replacement.

Thanks so much for the help mate. Could I ask though, is it normal for a two water feed? Hot and cold?

You have a Mira Essentials gravity fed power shower, maybe 15 odd years oldish, you'll need a similar types to replace. The trick will be to get one that has the same inlet pattern as your pipes are. Was that one working ok, do yo know what went on it as all the parts are available for them. Testiment as to why you should always buy from a well supported manufacturer.

A power shower takes low pressure hot and cold, mixes them to the desired temperature and then uses a pump to boost the pressure. The electricity is only to power the pump and doesn't use much power. An electric shower (which you don't have) only has a mains pressure cold feed and uses electricity to heat the water. It uses a lot of electrical energy and needs a thick heavy power cable.

Thanks again mate. So it is a hot / cold pipe feed? With regards to why it's stopped working, completely unsure, when I turn it on at present, it makes as much noise as it always has. But no water comes out. It stopped working after our builder turned the water off to fit our new kitchen, it was turned on when no water available and ever since just doesn't send water. It isn't air bubbles, I've tested / diagnosed that I think. But still, feel as though a quieter newer unit would be good. As we are doing all the house up at present. Again all advice appreciated.

You need to check that there is a min flow to the pipe outlets to ensure the pump will run, you really need the shower off the wall and check there is a flow at hot and cold ..... that being said that shower needed next to no head - 80mm to the cold cistern - to work properly.
