Hi, hoping for some help.

I had my water off at the weekend to replace the magnetic inhibitor and since then I’ve had problems with hot water. Central heating is fine but if I run the hot taps the flame only shows one bar and the water comes through like warm at best. It’s only kicking in intermittently.

Any help appreciated.

Inhibitor isn’t magnetic and flames don’t produce 1bar pressure, so I’m guessing you have a combi boiler? What make and model?

Thanks for getting back to me. The photo shows the magnetic inhibitor that I replaced, no idea who installed it but this is how I found it. I do have a combi boiler. It’s a Glow Worm.

Probably didn’t explain myself regarding the flame. It’s not pressure. The digital indicator showing the strength of the flame works from one bar for a low flame to four bars for a string flame. Currently it’s only showing a week flame and the water isn’t getting very hot at all.

thabkyou

That's a magnetic scale inhibitor. The gas engineers here will probably want to know what boiler you have to diagnose the problem.

Are you able to post a photo of this display?

This is the display. Heating is on but no hot water at all at the minute.
It’s a glow worm ultra com 30cxi.

Yes, fully open and the pressure is ok elsewhere. 60 is as high as the hot water will go.

Does the water go hot and cold and boiler flame on / off as well

Thanks. Is that a costly repair?
I assume that’s a job for an engineer and not something that will flush through?

I have done it before by draining system while filling the system with the hot tap open.

Did this only start when you added the scale inhibitor? If so I'd be tempted to replace it with the old one just to see if it returns to normal.

If the image shows what was on their originally what did you replace it with?
