Ideas for decking balustrade.

My rear garden slopes down away from the house so am planning to build a timber deck to provide a flat seating / dining area. The rear of the deck will be about 2.5 metres from the house and will be about 80cm above ground level.

I realise that this will require a safety balustrade as its above 60cm, but most products I have looked at state that they are only suitable for decks below 60cm.

I have looked at glass but It works out rather expensive and way above my budget, and I don't really want glass as I would prefer something which partly screens the area.

Any suggestions as to what might be suitable at a reasonable cost?

Err timber? Don't fall foul of planning legislation if you have neighbours who might complain.
