Hi everyone,
I've had a texecom premier elite for years and I've just had a ricochet wireless door contact develop a fault.

Have just bought an Impaq SC-W with door contact to replace, followed instructions to learn device but it just wont learn.

Anyone had the same problem and knows what the solution is?

Thanks in advance

If your following the instructions to the letter then there must be a problem with the device or the system.

Contact Texecom if your struggling, however I suspect operator error to be fair use a fair few of these and not had issues learning on.

I am wondering whether my system is a good few years old and this sensor is a newer version to my original sensor whether either the panel or ricochet firmware is too old, but cant find any info on firmware requirements in the manual.
I have emailed Texecom so hope they can help.

There shouldn't be an issue as it should be similar to impaq plusw the sensor reports the same things but works them out differently if that makes any sense.

If you learn in zone setup does the zone slot say free, press reset to start learning press reset again during countdown to clear slot, press reset again to learn new device.

Put battery in hold down learn button for 5 seconds count 1 and 2 and so on release it should learn on

Yep tried the above method, I go to Zone 12 which is first free slot, followed your instructions above but nothing. The sensor flashes a pinky colour as the manual says so looks like its in learn mode but panel just not picking it up.

Try a new battery I’ve had it dead out the box once with similar symptoms

Well, after a bit of tinkering, I have managed to sucessfully learn the SC-W. I set is as entry/exit1 on the zone settings which is the same setting as my old sensor, but when I arm the system and open and close the door, the exit tone doesn't change and cut off as would happen with the old sensor, but the display does say the sensor is active so it's obviously working.

The switch inside the device is set for door contact instead of shock so not sure whats going on now, but at least a bit further forwards

What is the programming of the zone in full?
What is recorded in the event log?

Thanks to everyone for the pointers but I managed to do it in the end and is all setup fine now.

The issue was that I fitted the sensor and magnetic contact using the same holes as my last sensor but discovered it isn’t as sensitive as my last one and needed to move the magnetic contact closer for it to register when the door opens / closes.

Learning I suspect you didn't hold the sensitivity button in long enough, although the manual states 3 seconds, impossible to say with any certainty as wasn't there but its learnt on now that is the main thing.

As for sensitivity of the contact, The old Impaq units had reed switches at either side of the pcb around the middle of the sensor. The new SC-W has the sensor towards the bottom and on the right hand side. This means the gap can be wider on the right than it can be on the left with the SC-W but the old impaq it didn't matter which side.

So the old magnet probably wasn't in alignment which my have caused you issues, along with to the left or the right of the new sensor for sensitivity.
