It's been a long time since I bought from TP but I'd like a quote as this is for a big job.
These days your account and prices are online. But the prices are terrible.
So does anyone know if the online account price takes into account your trade discount?

You need to go in with a list of materials and ask for a quote from one of the Travis sales team.
Your Account will be minimum or no discount added, and any prices setup on your account will have been withdrawn if you haven't used or bought enough materials in the last 12 months, so start all over.

Also try another merchants to compare prices

I used to have an online account, but from memory, it only gave me a 10% discount, meaning that they were still really, really expensive.

As per @Wayners post, walk in with a shopping list and see what discount they can give you on the spot.

Yes I agree. I have an account with a local small firm who aren't too bad but will sneak prices up if they can. I lost my one with Jewson as the plant hire manager took liberties too many times and I refused to pay all the bill.

Yeah I will thanks.
There was a time my local TP beat any other prices by miles.

I think they have a strategy of charging silly made-up prices so that they can give the trade a massive feel-good percentage discount. A company who did some work for me offered to get what I needed for me at their actual discounted prices, they got a massive percentage off, think it was 60% or something daft, I forget now. I looked into it, Screwfix or anywhere else online were still cheaper even after the fake discount off their fake prices.

I just can't be arsed with them. But if you have a big order it might be worth phoning them, after finding out how competitive they aren't against others first.

I guess it's a bit of a scam... they charge the trader £1000, the customer pays them £1000, they pay TP £500 or whatever and keep the change. So everyone's overcharging but it's a good source of hidden profit that ultimately the customer pays for.
