I had a lot of leg surgery as a kid, and after the last major surgery, Mum bought me a toy.

Obviously, the toy means a great deal, but it was played with and cuddled a lot and over the decades it has suffered in the sunlight.

It's nearly 50 years old now, and the plastic coating is flaking off the fabric and it's had a few stitches here and there.

My niece kindly bought some acrylic paints to renovate it.

Is it a lost cause, though?

I'm trying to think: if I took it to The Repair Shop, what would they do to it?

Apparently a long time waiting for an answer. I applied for my tabletop Space Invaders machine. But they obviously thought it wasn't good TV...
 
I suspect that acrylic paint will ruin it so test it on a bit underneath first.

You need a good sob back story - you could of made something up, like you were abducted by aliens as a kid and you brought the game because you thought your were shooting real aliens- yeah that would do it I think.
