If it's a 2 port valve then place a demand and test the wire going to the brown of the motorised valve using a suitable tester to earth and you should get 240vac.
If it's a 3 port valve then test on the white to earth for the same voltage value.
If it's a 3 port valve then test on the white to earth for the same voltage value.
