Hey guys, I've got a set of 2 floodlights from Temu with a tiny 6 x3 inch solar panel to charge them. It all came as a kit and workes fine in the summer but winter time it fails to charge much. If I were to change the tiny solar panel which must be 2w for something like a 20w panel. Would this work or would it kill the system? Not sure if they regulate solar power etc.

A LED is a current dependent device, so somewhere, somehow, there needs to be a controller to stop over current. A battery is a voltage dependent device, and again somewhere, somehow, the amount of power needs controlling.

So without some reverse engineering to find out what we have got, can't answer the question, it may have a complex switch mode controller, and it can handle the extra, but it could also be a simple zenor diode.

Location for a solar panel is important, to get the best charge into them. On dawn to dusk, is not possible in any but high summer, are these controlled by PIR - only turn on, when they see motion?
