A large and comprehensive report from the Centre for Media Monitoring reviewed 3,733 articles published in the Spectator relating to Islam or Muslims. Released last week, it criticised the publication for “a sustained and systemic pattern of biased coverage of Muslims and Islam”, according to the CMM, “with more than half of all relevant articles rated as biased over an eight-year period”. It is grim reading.
 
For almost two hundred years The Spectator stood for a tradition of good writing and civilised and often bravely heretical discourse. It used its voice to articulate, and sometimes to lead, our national struggle for tolerance. Today, as it approaches the 200th anniversary of its foundation by Robert Rintoul, The Spectator has become one of the most influential British media apologists for bigotry, hatred and racism: an upmarket version of GB News. For those of us who loved, revered and were guided by the old Spectator this is a national tragedy. British Muslims have every reason to feel threatened and intimidated by such rancid, repetitive, irrational and apparently uncontrollable hostility from a hugely respected magazine at the heart of the British establishment.
 
Buy a title, change the content, what’s new. Who the fek reads this drivel when you’ve got the Toreygraph. Burnam’s the man to watch.

What exactly does Burnham stand for?

He’s like Starmer and he proves us wrong by delivering on election promises - oh hold on, he’s never pledged or promised anything
 
I've subscribed to the Spectator for several years. It's a good paper, plenty of political analysis. Yes, it's a right wing Conservative leaning publication, so?
Douglas Murray and maybe other are pro Israel so their articles will always have a slant to them, it's never struck me as a 'muslim bashing' paper.

I doubt there is a single soul on here, that is surprised by that.

Some folk get comfort from like minded individuals, and seek out fellow Muslim hatred. Subject matter including the words Israel, Fromage, Reform migrants etc.

Pretty sure the embarrassment Fromage may have gone off the boil bit lately though.

Oh - I dunno. How about reporting on Islamist terror without demonising all Muslims? Without holding British Muslims collectively accountable for the
actions of individual terrorists?

Other news organisations manage to do such reporting without writing things like

“organised Islam is strong and vociferous”
“there are now more than double the number of semi-literate, virgin-obsessed potential murderers among our midst,”
“Prominent historians, including Tom Holland, have noted entirely correctly that Islam seems to have things about it which make it uniquely indigestible to the modern secularised state."
