A quick question for all the sparks.
With an external boiler would you bond the oil service as it dose not enter the property. The pipe work for the central heating and hot water are in copper external to the house but where they enter the property they are converted into an all plastic system,so in effect there are 2m copper tails to the boiler, this i understand is a plumbing requirement . I would be interested to hear your views on this.

Whats the supply earthing type? (if its TNCS, curse the gods!)

My gut feeling is you'd run a bond, but actually to the 2m copper tails/the boiler itself, the fact that the whole thing is connected to earth potentional via the cpc of the electricity supply to the boiler means you both may as well do so and are compelled to do so. Don't like the idea of a mass of metalwork connected to a TNCS earth outside tho![/list]

How far away is the boiler house in relation to the house and how far away is the oil tank in relation to the boiler?

The supply is tncs
the boiler is 1m from the exterior of the house and the tank is 10m from the boiler with the oil line buried in the ground in ducting.

I reckon you're going to have to bond it, you've got an oil line burried in terra firma (Ducting can't be relied on for isolation), which is connected an earthed metal boiler.

You've got big lumps of metalwork outside connected to TNCS earth regardless of whether you bond and if you don't bond any circulating network currents are going to be going through the CPC in the supply cable...

Don't suppose you fancy making the whole lot TT :D
