IP65 Rotary Isolator with Back Entry?

As cheesy as it sounds, I think if I can get all the answers on this forum, it will stop me getting an inferior job done! Note to self: must get checked out for control freak behaviour!

IP65 Rotary Isolator with Back Entry?

Hi, Thanks all for the replies. I think I am going to go with the cable (2.5 T&E) into the bottom of the rotary isolator. Couple of questions: 1. Can anyone recommend a good quality 20a IP65 rotary isolator? 2. I've got an electrician lined up to connect up next week but just want to...

Engineered wood in Conservatory - finishing at door

Thanks - are you saying that engineered wood is a no no in a conservatory then?

Engineered wood in Conservatory - finishing at door

Hi All, I'm most of the way through replacing an existing conservatory and thinking about putting an engineered wood floor down. I don't have any restrictions on the floor height, so was going to put a vapour barrier then 18mm plywood down on top of the existing sound tiles/concrete floor...

    Ventilation Around ring main circuit

The timber batons are 30mm thick (although at spaced off the wall in places as it is not straight) with 10mm board. I could drop the cable behind the rails so will have a little more protection but still within 50mm of the front of the board and under the windowboard.

    Ventilation Around ring main circuit

Thanks for replies. Obviously kicking myself after spending hours removing the cable from the cavity and having to refit the plywood boards bringing the cavity nice and level. Any ideas what I could do, apart from removing plasterbiard and fitting horizontal with the sockets. Wondered...

    Ventilation Around ring main circuit

Hi, I took the guidance literally and thought it is at the top of a wall and is 'protected by the laminated windowboard (i.e. no one is going to drill/nail through it). It would be a real pain moving it down the wall and in line with the sockets as timber batons have been used and I'll...

    Ventilation Around ring main circuit

Hi, I'm running some cables to extend a ring main into my conservatory. I have an electrician coming in a few weeks to check things out and connect up the ring and sockets. I'm provisionally fitting all the cables but leaving everything accessible just in case. I originally put the cables...

IP65 Rotary Isolator with Back Entry?

Need to agree the final cable size with a spark when I get one sorted out but the power is only feeding an air conditioning inverter running at 4amps, so probably a 1.5mm or 2.5mm T&E cable into the isolator and then an appropriate cable onto the unit. I'm just trying to get all the prep...

IP65 Rotary Isolator with Back Entry?

Hi, Being very careful with wording but I'm looking for a rotary isolator which allows the feed cable to enter from the rear (i.e. Through the wall). I believe not all rotary isolators have this capability. Does anyone know a brand that does? Many thanks, Damian

    Ring Main Cable in Insulation

Thanks chaps for feedback - think I get the gist of cables in a cavity. If I was to put the cables in the cavity in say a 20mm or 25mm flexible conduit, would that be more acceptable?

    Ring Main Cable in Insulation

Hi, I've been laying some 2.5mm t&e in the accessible cavity of my conservatory dwarf wall to extend the main house socket ring for 3 x double sockets in the conservatory. This cable sits 100mm into the cavity insulation. Am I right in thinking that unless it was in a duct, it needs to be...

    Domestic Air Conditioning Unit Questions

Hi, Thanks for the comments. I've checked the spec again and the starting current is definitely stated as 4.4amps, with running current a maximum of 4.4amps (heating and 4.2amps (cooling). I'll speak to the electrician and saes if it is worth giving it a go from the upstairs sockets...

    Domestic Air Conditioning Unit Questions

Hi Thanks both for your replies. Elliot - it might be possible to change the interconnecting SY cable for NYY. I can see the benefits but don't understand why everyone talks SY in air conditioning. Thinking about it, most of the cable is in trunking outside apart from the last metre -...

    Domestic Air Conditioning Unit Questions

Hi, I'm about to get an air conditioning/inverter unit installed by a refrigeration engineer. We are going to use a temporary flex/plug to commission and then I'll get an electrician to put a permanent feed in. It would really be helpful to get some views on the best way to install the...

Which cable for Air Con power?

Hi, Thanks for the feedback - I think you are right re cable selection. The outdoor unit is in a secure area in a domestic property. I've bought an MK Masterseal Plus fused spur but might get a rotary isolator instead. Out of interest, most of these isolators are 20amp +. I'm guessing you...
