    Dimplex Opti-Myst fires

...Dimplex must get them from somewhere (before adding their 100+% markup). If anyone can confirm the rakuten item is suitable that would be fantastic. Totally agree with everyone on here, the Optimyst feature is nothing but trouble and I really wish Id never bought this poor but expensive product.

Plan is to level floor build a wood frame that comes out 3 inch or so and then tiled with an electric optimyst on and a beam above, however my mate said will get damp and not thought about this, plan is to self level or cement up. Asked my plasterer and...

    Dimplex Optimyst cutting out

The current fault on my Optiflame is that everything works fine - lights, ‘smoke’ etc - for about 10 min. The fire then cuts out and closes down. I’ve dismantled it and looked for loose connection etc but still no joy. Advice welcomed. Thanks

    Dimplex optimyst lamps/bulbs

...reading I did when we 'inherited' such a fire with our house purchase (I don't use it, having fixed some burnt out wiring internally). NB Optimyst fires are typically 12V ac lamps. LEDs will need be the same (AC rated rather than DC) ... but may be presented with rather more than 12V ac...

...offer any advice. I have read through the previous comments and some similar issues to mine came up but not sure of the outcome. I have an optimyst GOSFORD GOS20 electric heater. It has an orange water tank and grey sump. Was working fine last year. Tried it a few weeks ago and heater part of...

    Dimplex Optimyst cutting out

In that case I think it's probably something to do with the power supply. When my Optimyst developed this fault it was still under warranty. An engineer got sent out and the first thing he did was replace the power supply. It was only because this didn't fix the issue that I went on and...

    Dimplex Opti-Myst fires

Hi Electricman. I have the same problem. Can't find a spare except via Dimplex where they want to sell you the sump and everything at £120 + vat!! Do you remember the place you found a service kit?

    Dimplex Opti-Myst fires

Reading all your comments has been a great incentive for me to fix my own 10 year old Optimyst. I have done lots of testing over the past few days and have determined that my fire's problem (the mist lights, fan cut-out after a few minutes and then start-up again if I leave the thing turned on)...

    Dimplex Opti-Myst fire failure

...one, attracted by the £19 vs £73 price of the Dimplex transducer. Could I ask what the normal life of these transducers should be? My Optimyst fire is less than 2 years old, filtered water has always been used and the fire has had little use and then only for the flame effect. Dimplex have...

    Dimplex Opti-Myst fires

I've had my Dimplex optimyst blk heater since around 2012. The main issue I had just after warranty expired was corrosion of lamp holders. A new assembly cost an extortionate £80 and suffered same defect after a while. So like others I sourced ceramic holders for a few £'s and no now fit my own...

    Dimplex Optimyst Problem

...fix the problem, no matter what is entailed, for £155 all-in. But as I could purchase a complete replacement fire (admittedly not a Dimplex Optimyst) for less than this I am not keen to go this route What I am considering doing though is building a replacement system using easily futureand...

Where to put TV socket and Satellite point by fireplace

Not a Dimplex Optimyst, I hope... These days, along with a number of other outlet types, as these days one traditional coax socket is not enough. You can get them with unused euro module apertures so that you can mix'n'match whatever "data" sockets you want. Or smaller ones

...fire and one which doesn't give me much confidence that it will have a long life. There are similar electric fires available but with the a simpler flame effect and at a fraction of the price. The Optimyst effect is good but unless its trouble free then I don't think its worth the extra cost.

...and the unit is too big to sit in the 'cup holder' in the bottom of the reservoir, but it works perfectly. The Amazon price for the Dimplex Optimyst transducer is £49.50, so I'll happily change the plug on the one I've just bought and trim the cable down while I'm at it. If you've really got...

    Dimplex Opti-Myst fire failure

Hi Roger, If you haven't got the new transducer yet, I would recommend getting it from a company called "Electricspares" they are the cheapest genuine ones that I have found at £58.99, much cheaper than the £73.33 from UK Spares that Dimplex tell you to go to. They also mention about the...

    Dimplex Opti-Myst fires

I agree with all that, but I was not thinking about the product or its manufacturer but, rather, the seemingly unique behaviour of forum members in relation to this one issue. Every week we see threads started which relate to very similar (or identical!) matters that have been the subject of...
