Cheers for that. I totally get you. I thought there might have been a reason why you had it higher. But I know what you mean . Thanks appreciate it

Wouldn't it be a better idea to lower the hole on the side so it's closer to the switch fuse box. So I can just spur of that and put socket where you have said at the front ?

I see but what's the propose of this ? Sorry I'm novice . I am good at DIY . But no quite understanding the reason behind this ? Is this just ti check if there's a void within the chimney ? Or where the wires should go through ?

That's a great idea. I'll practice outside just to see how I get on with things. Infact it's always a good idea to get some experience in things whether it works or not. Thanks but I don't quite understand the diagrams you have just posted ?

So when would you use an angle grinder ? Different type of wall ie plaster boards etc? Or is it because the room has carpet in it. That's why we should stay away from it for now?

Which tool to chase walls for wiring (Ed.)

That's a great idea about hhe extention.... might be an easier job.. Yeah it looks like the socket is spured to the side of the breast where there is a switched fuse box. It might have been for the TV for the previous occupants . I'm not sure

Which tool to chase walls for wiring (Ed.)

Hi Thanks for your suggestion. I'm not sure what you mean by dropping a weighted string. The holes you are referring to .. are they 1 front of the breast where the socket will go. Second one on the side of the breast , same side of the switched fused box ? Thanks for that. Deffo made my mind...

TV wall and new socket plus chasing ??

So the old fire place hole has been filled in. It already has an air vent. The wall has been skimmed. The hole that has been filled seems hard and NOT hollow when i knock on it. So I'm assuming it maybe brick behind the plaster skimming.

TV wall and new socket plus chasing ??

This is brilliant. In the pic you shown above. Is the socket behind the TV ? I know its jot yrs but that's quite high up if it is. I need to go home and check if it's plaster... if I end up putting a drylining socket box. Then the socket will below the TV as it will be below the TV height ?

TV wall and new socket plus chasing ??

This was great help. Thank you ! So if its confirmed it's part of the ring and not a spur. I can really spur from any socket if it's a double one ?I can't see that making any difference?

TV wall and new socket plus chasing ??

There's no fireplace. It's just a chimney breast. We're actually moving into the property in a week. No carpets or anything atm. Just floorboards. That's why I thought I can use this as an opportunity.

Thanks this is exactly what I wanted to know! Yeah I'm going to make a start of it on Monday! How would i check if the neutral is borrowed? I guess it will be down to the way the lights are wired. Has anyone got a diagram to show me of this kind of scenario? Thanks for any help.
