I just wanted to know . Thanks for that. I guess there must've been a time when there weren't any regs on this and it was okay to do.... but yeah ofcourse things change.
So I will need to put a new Circuit board in before I'm allowed to add the spot lights?
Is that purely from h/s perspective ? Or legislation/regulations etc?
Thanks for the above guys.
Someone mentioned John ward before . I'm planning to go through the testing playlist.
Wasn't aware of the other ones. Now I don't know which ones to fo through. Lol .. I'm a newbie. So probably hopefully get the most easiest one to understand.
Not heard of this company before.
Also been advised not to buy anything that hasn't got a calibration cert if its second hand. I bought a megger and it didn't work properly.
Thanks so much.
Would you say doing it from the bedroom directly is too much faffing ?
I saw a video where the guy made the holes for the spot lights. Used his phone to see both sides of the joists. Then used along drill bit to make a hole in it.
It is floorboard in rhe attic bedroom. But I'll have to move a few things and rip the carpet out..
I was going to attach it to the existing light.. as I don't want to be ripping into the wall to out a new cable for a new switch.
I've seen some vids.
But I just wanted to gage how do other DIYers or Sparkys feel about it? Is it too much faffing in practical sense. I can imagine with searching and locating for joists can be tricky?
Any personal experiences are welcome.
Thanks
I've never installed any lighting before other than put up a chandelier before.
I'm thinking of putting 4 spotlights in a bedroom on 1st floor which has a bedroom attic above it...
I'm good at DIY.
Would this be a difficult task? Any tips?
Thanks for the comprehensive insight! Much appreciated .
I was thinking of getting the TIS tester instead of the Martindale. However you're right it's probably better getting the one that uses a Porving unit.
Thanks for that . That info is definitely handy.
So I'm guessing if I'm just going to work in houses and maybe small businesses. Ie 1 man band.
I'll mote than likely just need a simple 2 poll tester and a MFT that has most functions. For my testing side. How much does calibrations cost ?
This is perfect. As a student this info has gone a long way ! It just helped me categorise why we need certain things etc. It gets abit overwhelming .
Do you recommend anything in particular?
