just short update. The original installer still ignoring me. Baxi support will kindly send one of their own engineers to check the installation. For private reasons this will be a few weeks from now. IF they identify any faults, they will then advise how to proceed. They confirmed that...

I had 5 radiators TBOE connected though, which the installer knew and knows, as he reconnected all of them after removing them all from the property and emptying them down the nearest drain. And he was told again this week, and still maintains, as insistently as you do here, that it does not...

Luckily for who? This is the bleak part that I am discovering, little more than theatre, a sham - poorly regulated, patchy (at best) enforcement, and in practice a consumer has very little redress.

Recapping a bit, I bought a new Baxi boiler, to replace an old Vokera boiler. The installer had visited and seen the property / setup in advance, and quoted for Baxi supply and installation, relocating the boiler approx 60cm to the left within the same room, and adding some Hive TRVs to the...

Based on my experience here I agree. If competent work by a qualified professional depends on the customer acquiring near-professional knowledge, drafting detailed specifications, and supervising execution, it's a pretty bleak world - we are talking here about installing a boiler, not building a...

No, I am not reluctant. IMO I am opposite in fact, I am eager to learn new things. But "facts:" have a higher bar than, respectfully, denso13 wrote so in a forum post. Nonetheless, point taken, I will check this with Baxi Support. (There's little point me asking the installer, as I would...

Again, thanks for all input, and the correction on hard/soft water in Scotland part. The original boiler install guys were supposed to come earlier in the week, not unsurprisingly they didn't show up. A couple of quotes from recent posts: "You need to find a better quality of...

Yes, Glasgow is typically considered a hard water area. As regards a filter, Harry wrote: “It is a requirement, rather than an option” Gas Safe guy didn’t mention it, the 2 British Gas services of the Baxi boiler didn’t mention it. One of the power-flush plumbers did say he’d add a filter...

Well, there was no filter before and I didn’t ask for one. They quoted for supplying and installing (including relocating) the Baxi 430 combi boiler and fitting the new TRVs, and decommissioning old boiler. That’s what they did. Probably including the flow/return mistake.

Thanks. I’m actually active on helping people on a few IT forums, and it’s exactly the same - if I could see their screen for 10 minutes the problem would be often teadily identified. But of course they describe the inputs and outputs they get from what is effectively a black box to them, and...

Yes, this seems to my conclusion too. Here’s my logic: The left most pipe in the Baxi 430 Combi right now is the CH Flow, both from the product documentation and simple physical check - when it starts up that pipe gets hot first. That leftmost pipe was also the leftmost pipe when the Volkera...

That’s the before picture, the previous Volkera Compact 24 Boiler. All 6 pipes went straight down vertically under the floor. All were cut above floor level and rerouted to the new boiler. I’ve fotos of the “after” so I should be able to map those 6 pipes to the current connections on the new...

I’m not questioning the plumbing aspect. In an earlier post, someone else advised me to go to local plumbers merchant, get their recommendation. Seemed good advice. That’s precisely what I did. That recommended guy has written “as you know a flush might help the situation”, confirming what he...

No, in fairness he meant roughly same price as power flush. He’d already dismissed the importance of flow/return possibly being wrong way around. Unfortunately I just cannot do it myself. I’m partially sighted. I can just about see well enough , in good light, to get a spanner around the lock...

Thank you. Yes in all cases lockshiekd is at the bottom. And in most (5/6) cases the TRV is at the top.and there is differing levels of OK-ness , or otherwise, across those 5. The one with both at bottom works best. I will double check all of this later. Of course can’t know with...

This is what I assumed. And that “gets hot first” connection is consistently at the lockshield. And without being able to say 100%, I think it was always so. Pre Baxi too.

I hoped a Gas Safe registered installer, also on the approved list from Baxi , would be better. They actually were very tidy, and took old boiler away. They didn’t go to the pub, but they had a train to catch. The 3:15 from Glasgow Central. Left my place 2:35 or so.

Sorry, practically, how to know? 95% of the piping is under tbe floor. Is that something the customer should be checking after a new boiler was installed and new TRVs fitted to all radiators? Really? Remember around 8 different plumbers/ gas/installers have looked at it over last 3 years or so...

    Radiator Sludge

Ok, so if I am understanding correctly, there’s now a new theory, it’s just setup wrong? The old boiler certainly worked the radiators better, but as I didn’t live there I can’t really quantify this claim. And it was years ago. The boiler was relocated when the Baxi was installed, about 60cm...
