I have a tenanted flat with neighbour noise problems. Easiest way to reduce noise travel to and from the flat above is to lower my ceiling and stuff the lowered area with noise attenuating material. Is it easy and free to get gas pipe work that may not be ours & not in use removed

Just pulled down ceiling plasterboard in basement and found two different gas supply pipes, each routed in steel and each connected to its own shut off on the pavement outside. One supply is disconnected / unused, goes no where and is terminated with a tap. The other may go to another property...

Alpha C27 Combi Boiler over pressurises once or twice a day then vents

I've checked the internal boiler PRV. It seems solid, and the 15mm exaust pipe to the extrnal wall seems dry, though, it's high up. Next time I am there I will check for a drip. The PRV on the new EXV I fitted from toolstation leaks a bit after it's tested. Talking it off and returning it will...

Alpha C27 Combi Boiler over pressurises once or twice a day then vents

I've had a feeling this may well be the problem, that it is heating and not shutting off. Suspect also it could be a temperature sensor switch / the thermostat that is not turning the heating off at temperature. I will turn the temperature on the stat down and see what happens. I'm not a boiler...

Alpha C27 Combi Boiler over pressurises once or twice a day then vents

Not sure what you mean. The cold water inlet is the filling loop right? This is always off when heating is operating. Do you mean turn the supply/ stop cock off and run the heating / hot water, or something else?

Alpha C27 Combi Boiler over pressurises once or twice a day then vents

Hi DP, User is 79 year old lady, not me. No idea if it has been serviced annually. I will ask her when I'm next there. Are you saying I should find out how to re-pressurise internal boiler EV and that may fix issue?

Alpha C27 Combi Boiler over pressurises once or twice a day then vents

I've fitted a new 18 L expansion vessel to the Return (from toolstation), and also fitted an expansion vessel kit (also from toolstation) with guage and exaust which has been piped outside. The system still over pressures when the heating is on and has to be re-pressurised about twice a week...

Alpha C27 Combi Boiler over pressurises once or twice a day then vents

System is gas central heating via a pressurised combi boiler system. The combi is a Alpha C27. Often the user is operating only two radiators. The balancing radiator and one other. Operating 2 out of 7 rads in total. Recently this combi has been de-pressurising once or twice a day soon after...

    Larder beetle eradication

0.1% cypermethrin Protector C spray works by being picked up by their feet. It irritates their feet they then eat it off their feet and it kills them. It works very well, it's just that I have to make sure it is *every where*, and it has to be done on 3 different occasions, each time 7 - 10 days...

I own it and rent it out. It's a flat in a block of six. It's a first floor flat so there is a flat above and a flat below. There have been no pets and no children in the flat. Tenants are students who complain about beetles but leave pizza boxes - with associated significant food residue - on...

concerete mix under concerete roof tile slides into lead canyon causing roof leak

Recommendations for what to push into there that will not eventually slide out again Probarly have to remove existing mortar and re-do, but may be not.. Perhaps put something in there that is more flexible, sticky, and won't slide out with small building movement, causing leak. See photos. Thanks
