Sorry, the cable will need to carry 3 amp and 1111 mA respectively. @Notch7 That seems to do the job! Thanks so much! :)

4 Core Electric Cable with 6mm Outer Diameter?

Thanks for the replies everyone. The 4 core cable is to carry 9v ac and 5dc to an old computer. The reason for the thickness requirement is mainly because the din connector's gland only accepts diameters up to 6mm. However, there's also the fact that 8mm+ thick cables are quite stiff and not...

4 Core Electric Cable with 6mm Outer Diameter?

I'm trying to track down some black electric cable with the above specification and I'm not having much luck. The sticking point seems to be the 6mm outer material diameter of the cable. Everything seems to be 8mm or above and, though it's only 2mm, that's too big for my needs. Does anyone know...

Wooden ladder bolts. How to take them apart?

Thanks for the replies everyone. I don't want to work around them as you'd just not get the same finish, plus there's a bit of a wobble with one, so I suspect it's slightly bent. So off they have to come! I'll replace with a mushroom head bolt and sleeve nut.

Wooden ladder bolts. How to take them apart?

Hi everyone. This is woodworking related so I hope it's ok placing this thread here. I'm in the process of sanding down and tidying up an old decorators step ladder. It's all dry joints and screws so it's fairly straight forward. However, the hinging mechanic is secured via 6 bolts. These...

    Cutting fibreglass cloth safety

I've got some fibreglass cloth and epoxy resin, which I'm going to use to fix a broken umbrella spar. Looks like this. Should I use a mask and goggles when cutting and using this type of fibreglass? And if so, what type of mask? Any advice much appreciated.

Didn't know had to resorn my car. Advice appreciated

I've an old car which broke down (engine clapped out) in '08 and has been kept in a garage since then. I'm pretty sure I sorned it off road but haven't since. As I recall I thought I didn't have to renew the sorn each year but recently found out that I do. From what I can tell that rule came in...

Watermill pr50d shower pump packed up?

My mums told me her shower pressure has disappeared. Upon looking at the pump it's making a louder noise than normal and the pressure is indeed very flat. I thought if post to get a little advice on what could be causing this and how much it could cost to remedy. Could the pump have become...

Ahh, thanks man, probably not then... I wonder if I'd be able to rip out that fitting and secure a UK one in there?

Will this US lamp work in the UK?

I need some clamp lamps which are two a penny in the States but which I can't find anywhere here in the UK. They look like thishttp://www.amazon.com/Designers-Edge-Incandescent-Clamp-6-Foot/dp/B00076Q0FQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1311723112&sr=8-1 Will these work if I just wire it up to a UK...

Please explain this ceiling wiring to me?

Appreciate the replies. I'll leave it be then. Mates can't afford an electrician, and certainly not one that's going to rewire the entire place! For the record I was only intending on making the wires shorter and cleaning them up a bit.

Please help me understand Norwegian ceiling wires!?

Thanks for the replies guys. Well I guess I'll leave well alone then. Mates can't afford to get an electrician in I'm afraid. The ceiling will just have to remain lightless for now! Apparently most old flats have wiring like this and everyones the same, can't afford electrician so leave...

Please explain this ceiling wiring to me?

Thought I'd post this here as I'll hopefully stand a better chance of a reply. I know it's to do with a foreign setup but any advice would be better than none, even best guesses! I'm staying in a friends Norwegian flat and I'd like to put up some lights for them. Unfortunately each ceiling...

Please help me understand Norwegian ceiling wires!?

Really hope someone can help me with this. I'm staying in a friends Norwegian flat and I'd like to put up some lights for them. Unfortunately each ceiling outlet has a massive jumble of wires coming out of it! I've never seen such a mess and they are preventing me from attaching ceiling roses...

Advice on best tool for making long cuts

Okay first off, yes I could just use a saw! But that's not really the point. Basically I'm finally getting a nice wooden bench which will allow me to attempt some decent woodwork. For the time being I can only afford one powered tool so I've been deciding on what to get, what's going...

Best/easy way to fill old wallplug holes?

We've got a few wallplug holes dotted around our walls from the previous owners and would like to get rid of them. Could someone suggest the best way to go about this? I'd presume the best way would be to take down the wallpaper and replaster over everything but it's too much work to...

How to age shiny metal fittings?

Just thought I'd ask too, will the corrosive process halt once I've taken the screws out of the vinegar and washed them under water? For instance is there anything else I should be cleaning them with?

How to age shiny metal fittings?

Thanks for the replies guys. big-all, I followed your vinegar suggestion. I scuffed up the heads first with sandpaper then left them in vinegar. The result was a dulling of the metal with a slight yellowish tinge. It's pretty good and fits the wood so much better than the shiny chrome like...

How to age shiny metal fittings?

You know those awful metal fittings ikea uses? The hexagonal headed bolt things? Is there an easy way to age them? Kind of give them an old antique brass look? They really spoil the look of some pieces I have. If there was a way to age them it would really help. Any advice greatly appreciated.
