I think we have had it

It isn't even a proper fast. Don't eat all day and then stuff yourself before bed... not particularly challenging and also bad for your health. More likely to cause weight gain rather than weight loss. Completely pointless and understandably irritating for it to hold up the game with yet more...

    Another broken labour promise.

Only 20% of all possible voters chose Labour at the last general election. Most of those are either benefits scroungers, losers, thickos and certain other, mainly inbred, varieties. Or a mixture of these. They were shunned by 80%. And even most of the lunatics who voted for them are disappointed...

    Efflorescence Problem

Thanks. Is this common and normal, or indicative of something not done right? Just wondering as I am planning to replace the outer skin of bricks on another part of the house so could try to do things differently for that.

    Efflorescence Problem

Is there anything I can do other than keep brushing it off?

Box Gutters... good or bad idea?

Just reviving this topic... Previous discussion and images show my idea to convert an existing flat roofed extension to one with a hipped roof. The previous idea showed a hipped roof tying win with the existing main hip, with a type of box valley gutter being introduced between the new roof and...

    Efflorescence Problem

Hi everyone, Our new extension was finished in September and there are a lot of salt crystals coming through the mortar joints below the DPC. To the point of being all fluffy. I keep brushing it off from time to time with a hard brush, but it soon comes back and even when removed, leaves a...

    Wonky Purlin Supports...

They are the right way up on my phone but then ended up sideways when I uploaded them here with no function to rotate. My apologies, and thanks for the replies :)

    Wonky Purlin Supports...

This is a common sight then is it?

    OSB Loft Boards Preparation?

But the packaging seems to be saying 15-30 centigrade and a humidity range - I cannot guarantee either in that loft at this time of year. Or any time of year other than maybe mid Spring time. I'm wondering if, as Wayners suggests, it is about losing some of the moisture content in the boards...

    OSB Loft Boards Preparation?

Yeah, they've been packaged and stored in a B&Q then come into my house and I've had them out for 24 hours so I'll just use them now.

    Wonky Purlin Supports...

Hello, My early 60s house has a hipped roof where the four purlins sit on five brick supports. Two of these look wonky, which is a little concerning. I show the two wonky ones and one that looks fine for comparison. Is this something to be concerned about and should I have them re-built? If so...

    OSB Loft Boards Preparation?

Hello, I've got these OSB loft boards which are pictured. The instructions are saying they need to be acclimatised first, but the lack of words / explanation, and the strange wording that is used, leads to some questions. It says "enabling after adolescence 48 hours"... which translated into...

    Washer waste pipe moving about...

Thanks chaps. I can't cut it down as a certain amount is needed to be stretched from the machine to the standpipe before pushing the machine under the counter. Then it is hard to adjust because it is in between units. At the moment, the hose is coming out of the top of the machine, going down...

    Washer waste pipe moving about...

Hello, The waste hose from my washing machine goes into a standpipe. I have the hose running through a clippy bracket thing on the wall, with added gaffer tape, just before it goes down into the standpipe. This seemed to work better than the U shaped piece of plastic I got from Amazon, which I...

    Washing machine hose...

Thanks for that. I got a similar one yesterday from toolstation which is very similar to those at your link and it doesn't look or feel very convincing. So I'm going to allow myself to be ripped off and order a "high quality" one direct from AEG. On the off chance it is better and reduces the...

    Washing machine hose...

Thanks everyone! Can I just check. Is it definitely fine to use the hot water hose for cold water inlet? There seems to be a specification difference where the hot hoses are able to take higher temperatures, and I assume they might be stronger for this. But there is hardly any difference in...

    Washing machine hose...

Hi all, I have moved my washing machine into a different room and discovered that the flood proof (sometimes called aqua stop) inlet hose has turned red on the mechanism part. This apparently means the inner hose has leaked and according to the manufacturer, AEG, I must now replace the hose...

    Correct seal?

Thanks a lot. Yes, it happened when I was cleaning the drainer down and to test it, poured a cup of water around the seal and dripping went into the cupboard. Doesn't happen when taps are running though. So seal it is.

    Correct seal?

Hi all, Does anybody know what the seal is at the bottom of this tap, between it and the drainer? I think it needs replacing as water can drip through to the cupboard below. Many thanks

    Composite Door Leaking

Just to say, for what it's worth, it is absolutely normal for some water to get in at the bottom, especially during heavy rains, and the drain holes are there to take it away. But the brush things shouldn't be getting soaked, especially not the rear one, and if water is getting into the house...
