    New Radiators first or Boiler?

If your fan is working why do you need a new one? Why is the boiler one of the worst ones, did the engineer give a reason? It's a sod to service that's true but if it's working he possibly doesn't like the idea of actually stripping the boiler and servicing it. A fixed price repair from Vokera...

Size of gas pipe for new boiler (Ed.)

Before you can say ditch the combi keep the old pipe it would be useful to know the output of the proposed system or heat only boiler the combi would be ditched for. System and heat only tend to be higher outputs, 20kW's possibly and the pipe needs to be sized for the boiler input irrespective...

    Flow temp vs power rating

Not thoought about it before but some boilers allow adjustment of the hysteresis.

    Flow temp vs power rating

You're stuck with what you have, if it were new the pipework could be sized to suit your desired delta T, flow rate and heat loss.. Slow flow means water gives up it's heat over a long period and the return to the boiler is cooler (the temperature entering the radiator doesn't change but the...

    Flow temp vs power rating

Obviously increasing the heating ON time will effect internal warmth most, it will be warmer for longer. The emitters can only emit what goes in and the property can only absorb what it can until the thermostat indicates it's warm enough the turns the boiler OFF. Increasing flow temperature...

    I need a new boiler

Have a look at the mid and top range Vokera Synergy and Pinnacle. Now part of Carrier Group which includes Viessmann and Riello sharing technical and service teams. 7 and 10 years, modulation from 1.77kW up to 35kW dependant on model.

    High temp heat pumps??

Your point about the battery pack running the boiler is sound and if enough to tip the decision for oil is fair comment. Especially if you experience frequent outages. I have no idea of size and duration batteries will operate a burner and circulator. £700 sounds very reasonable.

    High temp heat pumps??

Forget cooling, for that go AC. Your bills will definitely be higher if you changed to HP and run the system the way you do but if the system ran continuously with possible increase in radiator sizes (not always necessary as many are oversized) it would be cheaper but that statement has the...

    High temp heat pumps??

It's the refrigerant that gives the higher temps, R290 (propane) up to 75C but at that temp it'll have a COP OAT 7C of 2-ish. R32 will give 65C OAT10, 60C OAT -5deg. The highest temperatures are not the target, the lowest that maintain com fortare the best because the COP improves so if your...

    High temp heat pumps??

That would rather depend on the OAT the COP was calculated at

    CH Energy Requirements Estimate

As long as your ceilings are between 7'6" and 8'6" 11kW sounds fine in traditional calculations. If you're running a heat pump 24/7 maybe a little lower.

    CH Energy Requirements Estimate

I haven't read all the posts but when it's at design temperatures, say -1⁰C or whatever run the heating to get the whole house comfortable and in a steady state the read the meter over at least an hour, longer is better. Divide consumption by hours and that's your property heat loss. Don't put...

    Vokera leak

Looks like the diverter valve cartridge behind the actuator but picture is not great. Not expensive and possibly best to replace both cartridge and acuator, any local installer can do this. Vokera will do this for you for a fixed price but a local guy might be cheaper.
