    New solid floors

I have similar property build and installed wet UFH, in my kitchen... it's brilliant. Wish I did the entire ground floor. After laying concrete slab, I did 100mm kingspan, followed by 75mm liquid screed. This time of year, my floor is on low 24/7. That said never noticed a big increase in the...

Tiling Advice in a Sloping Ceiling Bathroom

Sounds like an excuse to me. I'm sure the plasterer can make it straight. Just get a spirit level out and draw a line close to the joint all the way along, to see how much the run out is, if you are using large tiles? might not be noticeable anyway.

Tiling Advice in a Sloping Ceiling Bathroom

I'd go option 1 out of your options. Out of curiosity, why are you leaving and area under the window, not tiled? is there going to be a boxed in area/shelf. Personally think I'd run the tiles on all the 'green' plasterboard.

How to Fix Pocket Door Kit to Screeded Floor

Until/if you get a better response, I would glue it down with something like Puraflex So far, it seems to stick everything to everything. Good luck (y)

Battening an un even brick bathroom wall

I use plastic packers, and if the gaps are big, plastic fascia boards cut down to make DIY packers, 90° to the battens. I concrete screw the batten to wall through all the packers. I then get the foam gun out and back fill the gaps from the batten to wall. Once cured it's rock solid, you can...

Tongue-Tite Screws For 18mm Vertical Larch Cladding?

I've clad before, with rough sawn larch, a 16 gauge brad wouldn't go through it, but they were thick around 20/25mm also they are galvanised and will rust... you really need stainless steel nails to do the job properly. You might be able to do it with porta nailer, (T&G flooring) but again the...

Rainwater entering boiler flue from gutter above

Looks like the guttering has also come away from the union, hence the leaks at the joints. I suffered similar issue at last house, and quickly made a temporary flue cover from a cut down section of 110mm soil pipe (block) After cutting the pipe in half, down it's length (1ft long), I used a hot...

    Small nail gun nails

Think the DeWalt Pinner 16 gauge, will do 32mm brads, you can get these from Toolstation. I used the tacwise ones, seem reliable., no jams. (y)

    Subfloor not level

Probably cheaper to use self levelling compound first, if it's quite out. How big is the area you are covering? I've used this before on plywood for 10mm+ Mapei Self Levelling

Tiling on underfloor heating liquid screed

Think I used a 6mm, you can use smaller.

Tiling on underfloor heating liquid screed

I used mapei primer G (a few coats) for my liquid screed floor, I then used flexible semi rapid tile adhesive to stick the mat (Dural CI++ crack mat) to the floor. Used a small notched trowel. This is the tile adhesive I used: Rocatex I used the same tile adhesive for the tiles to the mat...

    Underfloor heating installation advice

If you have two zone valves you can run the systems independently, (need two thermostats) I find this useful this time of year I leave my floor on 24/7 (low) the house rads programmed to come on and off as needed.

Got a question about wall ties, beginning with; is this one?

Yes it's a tie, tap with a hammer to knock off the mortar, mix up some more mortar and push the tie into the new bed of mortar... lay your brick/block on top of it, you shouldn't need to support the brick/block. Good luck

    Condensation / Porch

You may well have a weep on the rainwater pipes, water could be tracking down the pipes. Condensation could be forming as there is probably little or no insulation in the roof. You would need to pull some of the ceiling down to investigate. Easiest fix would be to bond some insulated...

Insulation Air Gap for Pitched Roof

Looks like my raised collar roof, with insulation applied years ago, minimal air gap, all it still good and dry. If worried, see if there is room to install felt vents, failing that, perhaps you could install eaves vents.

    Wooden floor warping

I would have thought if you had a leak and it was buggering up the floor, you'd have spotted this by now. Looking at your images, I think it's still too tight to the skirting. Wood moves more across the plank than it will lengthwise. You should have a suitable expansion gap on all walls (8mm...

    Wooden floor warping

Is this solid wood or engineered? Do you know if there is an expansion gap at the wall? If you're not sure, perhaps pull up a section of the beading next to the wall. If there is no gap, this could explain why its warping.

What about finding a grout that's a close match then?

LVT on top of cracked limestone with wet UFH?

How many tiles are loose? How bad are the cracks? If there are lots of cracks would be better taking tiles off, self levelling (if needed), installing a mat, then re-tile. It's quite a job though. I have similar floor with mat. Last year I advised customer to fit a mat, they didn't listen and...
