    Tiling onto emulsion

Is it not? the British M40 specification for tiling must be wrong then as must all the M40 tiling specs I receive from commercial clients with regards to PVA/primer onto bare plaster. Westcliff, up to you if you take my advice, or waste hours of your time. Incedentially, in my own house...

    Fitting shower tray

Lol, no worries. I used to own a shop for a year, but it didnt work out, so just running the contract business now. Chris, Assuming you have a timber floor and plaster walls, use single part Flexible adhesive for non-porous tiles on the floor, use a slow setting adhesive for...

    Tiling onto emulsion

Westcliff, I'll leave this one upto you. It's not uncommon on site for painters to paint around the bath in error, then tilers to tile on it. I've never seen a site that makes the painter remove the paint he put there in error, and i've never been called back to tiles falling off...

Porcelaine tiles stained by grout - any last resorts...

Smooth Natural? Thats not polished I take it. Some manufacturers recommend porcelain to be sealed, some not. Also, from experience, i'd leave black grout on a tile less than one min, work quick with it, get it off quick. Black grout contains a dye, which is why it's stained...

    Which adhesive??

£44? Jesus Christ. Both are cement based with added polymers for flexibility. BAL cement is no better than Granfix, Palace, Ardex or others, I can assure you. I don't know why people bang on about Bal, their bucket adhesives are **** (white star excluded), and their products are over...

    Fitting shower tray

Sorry Chris, was busy all day. What tiles are you laying on the wall and floor? Also, Im more a fan of local tile shops than Topps tiles, and they could really do with the help right now. Im sure also that they will be able to beat Topps prices if you ask for a deal. Regards Paul...

    Accounting

Id personally advise getting an accountant once the company gets bigger. Its a fact that HMRC will pick on people without accountants. I've recently had to try dealing with HMRC. I say TRY, because it's like dealing with a faceless bureaucracy, which has a different department for each...

    tiling

Well, it depends really, are you doing a one off job? or are you going to become a tiler? The amount you spend on all these tools, you could pay a tiler to do the job. Why don't you ask your local tile shops if they have one for hire? I know some shops do.

    tile under shower tray?

I've never had that with Persimmons, nor ROKBuild, Galliford Trys, Crest Nicholson, Barratts, Hill Partnerships, Mitie interiors, etc etc, unless the site agent is a dickhead or something. When I do it for my own work, I do it by the M40 specification.

    Dangers of the wrong tools

I didnt know the guy, and couldent read past the first paragraph as it was too gruesome. Having spent all my life working on site, im amazed that someone could have even thought about cutting a tree stump with an angle grinder, and changing the blade. I can only agree with what Conny has...

Black grout is a nightmare, and next time your specifying a grout on one of your designs Mr Archwombat, remember that Tilers don't like black grout!!!! :-) p.s. what type of porcelain is it, polished? riven? how long did you leave the grout on the tile for etc?
