    Hero Cat

This is our hero cat. We were offered him at 10 weeks and, because someone had promised to pick up his brother and repeatedly failed, we were offered him too. The other day, I did a really stupid thing. An absolutely absent-minded, but nevertheless, really stupid thing. I made myself egg on...

    Wall and fence fallen down

The fence between us and one of our neighbours is a party fence, but they're not interested in going halves, so we did it ourselves. But, when we approached him about having trees chopped down as they were growing over our side and also potentially at risk of damaging foundations, he cut them...

    Public Car Chargers

The worry was that battery packs would not last. But in practice, there are many mega-mileage EVs that are still going strong. There are a few on YT. A 230,000-odd mile MG, a 300,000 odd mile Kia to name but two. Our cheap as chips MG4 is currently approaching 28,000 and we have had no need to...

    Public Car Chargers

Just wanted to give an update as we approach the end of our three year lease. We have an Ohme Home Pro which does the lion's share of our charging at home cheap as chips. For trips away, we have accounts with Instavolt and Tesla which both give discounts on the posted price. And yes, many...

    Tyre Rotation, any point?

TBF, it isn't, when you look on the "tax check" site. It only shows up if you look at the "MOT history" site.

Full-width vs shorter movable cabinet under window for small kitchen

Maybe not to do with your particular layout, but I have helped parents in law with the kitchen in their new bungalow. Ordered them lots of pull out baskets so they don't have to grovel at the back of the cupboards for stuff. Also, they want pull down baskets for wall units, so no reaching up...

    Tyre Rotation, any point?

I remember having a leak in the back box and taking it, funnily enough, to Mangoletsi, (who were just Alfa dealers in 85/ 6) for a new back box. You wouldn't believe how much better it drove with the new one on! Fast forward to 2023 and (completely coincidentally) that's where we got our new EV...

Maybe it changed, like my Alfa, after you sold it?

    Tyre Rotation, any point?

DVLA says 1972, but then it also thought it was orange, unless it had a colour change. My Alfa had a colour change. Obviously green when new... It's really quite odd because when my Grandfather bought the car, he sent me a die cast model of an Alfasud and I painted it purple! Little did I know...

    Tyre Rotation, any point?

Ah, my heart aches! The DS was way ahead of its time in 1955, as was the 'sud when it was unveiled in '71. Amazing vehicles, both. That's another one to add to my hangar! That R reg Alfa is not in the flush of youth...

    Tyre Rotation, any point?

Oddly, mine didn't have a rust issue. It had its quirks, like the inboard front discs, while servicing them, the Haynes manual says clockwise with the Allen key (or whatever way it was), but on one side it's one way and on the other it was the other way round. There was idiot me trying to loosen...

    Tyre Rotation, any point?

Yeah, even with prancing horses under the bonnet, I still preferred the Alfa.

    Tyre Rotation, any point?

Loved that car but was never in a position to get one. It was my favourite out of the Type Four cars: Alfa 164, Lancia Thema, Saab 9000, Fiat Croma. 85-86 I had a 'sud that had pedals heavily offset towards the centre of the car. It took some getting used to. As did the close spacing of the...

    Tyre Rotation, any point?

I believe some EV tyres start life with less tread than others, 6mm. No suspension issues, it's a 3 year lease car with maintenance that has 4 months to run.

What have you been doing today?

I'd use up the ply, I think. The measurements aren't critical under a carpet are they? If it's a milli out?
