    cant see a problem with it. weve used blue barrels on our allotments with all sorts of different contents. They normally only resale the ones which have had harmless stuff in. give it a few good rinses and should be fine.

    you wont need spacers on the blocks. yes the fall is fine, its not a massive issue with decking anyway. 5 x 2 is ok, youll just need a few more supports

    yes they are deep enough. sit it on a bed of damp mix to get it levelled then haunch the mix up against it to get it held in place. It will still leave plenty of space to get the block paving up against it. the blocks against it will be the edging blocks, so they should be bedded on a damp mix...

    a light sanding will give the best result. pressure washer will leave marks. then oil it.
