My tips after managing and DIYing a double story extension

Some really good stuff here. A couple of things worth mentioning though: be cautious about always going for the cheapest quote especially if there's a big gap to the next highest, there's usually a reason. There is a risk of mismeasurement and divided (not me guv!!) responsibility in...

Wall plug drill size and screw size question

I rarely use my SDS as I can get into most materials with just the combi and a decent bit. Had to drag it out last week as it happens as 1 hole in 6 found a very hard brick.

    small air compressor usage

As well as the tyres. mine has proved very handy for blowing stuff down after sanding, I also use a needle gun on de-paint/de-scale duties though in fairness it'd only a Lidl cheapy so do need to be patient. I have also made up a small airlift to clean leaves from the bottom of the pond which...

Is my quote inline with industry costs? in UK

Nowt: doing it for myself. Mate was on £220/day. New timber maybe £200 say £30 for spray and old wood went to tip gratis

Is my quote inline with industry costs? in UK

As cdbe says: fleecing in progress. Big style. Just to give you a perspective I've recently finished a full refurb of a rental after the tenants from hell were evicted. Part of that was dry rot in the kitchen floor. All the boards came out and 4 joists. I set new plates on sleeper walls and did...

    Rebranding

Totally agree except that I wouldn't want a domestic chippy trying to do major formwork: there are different skills/mindset required.

Help me find the right drill bit please.

An ordinary masonry drill will handle ceramic tiles. NO HAMMER though. 3.2 seems awful small though: surely you're going to use wall plus so at least 5mm for yellow plugs

I've used these tiles quite a bit: they are a bit marmite but I like them. I'd put a soldier course under that window.

Decking Sub-Frame Help Calculating Quantities - Fuzzled Head.

You can often save a lot of work by slightly tweaking dimensions to suit the sizes you can get. There's also a balance to be made between joist size and number of posts. More posts = shorter spans = smaller timbers

I'm not sure what proportion of your customer base would appreciate the distinction: Wood stuff = carpenter to a lot of peeps.

Multiple cracks In Exterior Masonry (up to 4mm) - Insurance not worried but should they be? with pictures

If it is trees then since the wretched things grow then the chances are things will get worse. 5m for a tree is potentialy very close. We look at anything within 30m when designing foundations.
