improving pipework for feed and vent

i know i have been avoiding investigating the feed connection and making mods around the boiler but it's in a tricky position and i don't have any soldering equipment. i just do what i can do. there's been a lot of alterations and it's difficult for me to know what's causing what. also i used...

improving pipework for feed and vent

hi all , thanks for he info. yes when the new boiler was fitted the installer ran F3 through it for a couple of hours, i have also repeated the same last year and kept it in for about a week but i found the water that came out looked the same as when it went in, i did try to switch off rads and...

improving pipework for feed and vent

i want to be able to run the pump fairly fast so the rad. in the hall gets hot (last one on run) , i haven't really balanced the rads. much because i'm worried about restricting the flow incase it makes more pumping over, i also don't think i have a bypass valve so a bit worried about safety...

improving pipework for feed and vent

hello, yes good idea , well for many years i had a very old boiler and don't think it even had inhibitor , but then i had the 15Ri and many trv's fitted 2 years ago and installer put in Fernox f1 , the system didn't work well from the start , pumping over air in system and boiler tripping off...

improving pipework for feed and vent

no the only air bleed valve is in airing cupboard after the 3 port valve on the water side, i usually keep the water side switched off and heat water with the emersion heater to stop air going around the water side and back into the boiler. the plummer that came round said i don't need a vent...

improving pipework for feed and vent

sorry what i mean is the plummer hasn't been to my house before and he's unaware how bad it is in the winter and knows about all the faults i have experienced. how would i check the feed insn't blocked ? if i'm cutting any pipe in that area i may as well renew and improve it at the same time. i...

improving pipework for feed and vent

hi, yes if i get a magnet there is a small attraction to it at those tee's but i don't think they are badly blocked ? what about not having a bypass valve ? are they just a safety thing or do they help the system work better ?

improving pipework for feed and vent

good morning and thank you for your replies, i'm 99% sure the F & R are the fitted right way round but i will double check when the ceiling gets cut away more to replace the pipework, the guy that came round is a working plummer, but he has never worked or seen mine before. the stage i was at...

improving pipework for feed and vent

hi, i've had someone look at my heating system recently and he wants to combine the feed and vent pipes to help eliminate the air and other problems i have been experiencing over the last year following a boiler and pump upgrade. he also wants to remove the vent. arm above the F and E tank which...

    central heating problems

maybe the 22mm vent one is hot under the floor and cools off higher up behind the emersion tank, not sure i need to investigate further . i have also read that can put a gate valve on the feed so if i do that in 22 and find out 15 is better for the pump then i can always close teh valve down...

    central heating problems

the 22mm vent pipe is cold where it runs up airing cupboard so it must be heat transfer causing teh 15mm pipe to get hot , but why isn't teh 22 one getting hot also when they are right next to each other ?

    central heating problems

suppose first thing to do is cut the T joints out and see if they are blocked and could be affecting teh flow. the boiler pump and 3 way valve are all close to each other increasing to 28 mm wont cost much more and may stop them clogging in the future. i would have thought 22mm feed pipe...

    central heating problems

is it better to increase the 15mm feed to a 22mm ? is it worth increasing teh flow pipe from the boiler to pump to 28 mm ? but i have 22mm pipe behind the boiler that i don't want to touch. but i could increase to 28 at top of boiler and Tee off with 22 pipes for vent and feed then maybe a 28...

    central heating problems

hi, so i have located the 22mm vent and 15mm feed where they connect to the flow from the boiler and they do attract a magnet , not just the t connectors the pipes in that area too. as mentioned the boiler has moved 6 inches to the left so the vent doesn't go directly up from the boiler...
