How much work to change from conventional boilet to combi boiler

The BRE put this to bed years ago, system boilers are marginally more efficient but that is lost between a boiler and cylinder. If you get an unvented cylinder that’s two services a year, if you plan ahead for a heat pump you’ll need a heat pump ready cylinder and that’s not cheap. You can tie...

    Dew point of natural gas

If you mean the dewpoint of the flue gases after burning NG it will vary dependent on the amount of excess oxygen supplied to the burner.

Combi boiler in loft - wasting loads of cold water on tap in ground floor

I do, I try to dissuade combis in a loft, boilers,, OK but locating a combi as far as possible from the tap you use most is not a great idea - however the customer is always right. I think you're missing the point however, it's not the cold water you run off before the hot arrives, water goes...

Heat only vs Combi boilers control- set flow temperature

Yes; is your boiler OpenTherm? If so use EPH controls and set for priority hot water reheat which it will do at high temp (set to whatever reheat temperature you want, say 75degrees) then when hot water is up to temperature supply space heating at a modulated flow temperature dependent on...

Boiler condensing possible with Rads (no UFH)?

Make sure the water in the system and cistern do not have circulation between them or aeration. Know how to pipe size and position connections and circulator. Sealed systems avoid those issues.

Boiler condensing possible with Rads (no UFH)?

Personally I am happy with open vented systems when I installed them as I knew how to do it to avoid air ingress and achieve inert deoxygenated water in the heating system, that is not commonly the case. Take a look at the water in the small feed and expansion cistern in the loft, if clean and...

Boiler condensing possible with Rads (no UFH)?

Just use an OpenTherm ready heat only boiler and EPH controls to operate two zone valves on DHW priority. An additional feature would be to add weather compensation if the boiler allows. Either or the combination would do what you require. Not sure Atag is heat only or the heat only Vaillant can...

    Vitodens

Viessmann 222, I'm told a good unit but I'm not a Viessmann fan particularly however it's an all in one unit which I think has the same limitations as desktop computers with CD and processors in the screen; you're stuck if something fails and the part will be expensive as there's only one...

    New Boiler Requirement

The boiler needed extra pipework for PDHW because that's how the boiler is designed. I'd have thought it far simpler to put an OpenTherm system boiler in, keep all existing pipework and swap the Y plan for S plan using EPH OT controls to achieve PDHW.

Viessmann 222-f heating curve & other things

I have used open blades on one job, an assembly unit not even 6 metres and I think they worked, I wasn’t called back (30 plus years ago). Destrat fans were recommended to me, I did a bit of research and went for it. Not cheap, I think £1500 pounds but I can confirm. I could have mounted them...

Combi boiler with accessible pressure valve

Vokera Vibe Max Shraeder valve protrudes through the top of boiler accessible from outside case. Vokera Vision Plus, the vessel is inside boiler and the valve is facing user on right side but case front (two screws) needs to be off for access. Vokera Unica Max, removing the case is the same as...

Destrat fans work. If on Facebook search for a Viessmann group for a referral or call Viessmannn themselves, I know of nobody in the area I'm afraid.

Viessmann 222-f heating curve & other things

Where are you in the country, there may be people that can be recommended who are fully conversant with Viessmann. You have no underfloor in a church? That's going to be tough to heat with high ceilings. I have a chapel and would not get rid of a perfect parquet floor to lay underfloor which...

    megaflow, twist or stick

It's why I recommended the Oso cylinders which allowed removal of the drop tube so with an external vessel it could be fully flooded. I've learned they've dispensed with the tube a while ago due to the bubble issues.

    megaflow, twist or stick

I suggest stick with Megaflop as it’s the easiest, cheapest option. There seem to be two issues with them, one I haven’t encountered myself, that of the disintegrating baffle. Have you had to replenish the air bubble in the past? If not just fit the replacement. If you have, stick an external...

    Viessman 100W / 200W with Evohome

The V200 has WC and controls the whole house from outside, has combustion control but no OpenTherm. The 100 has OpenTherm but no Vicare app or combustion control. They both have a stainless single pass large bore hex but with limited residual head. Look for an alternative boiler then that has...

    Heat pumps

Dare I suggest ringing Margaret on 01727 744002 and book yourself onto Riello's heat pump training course at either London Colney, Herts or Cleckheaton, West Yorks. I run it and I think it's intense but useful. Free, no qualification at the end of a very full day and very little is about...
