    Ideal Logic Pump Overrun

See my edit about the boiler requiring a permanent live supply when the programmer is not calling for heat, I edited my post while you were replying.

    Ideal Logic Pump Overrun

I didn't install anything. My heating engineer (very good and completely trusted by me) didn't install an overrun. Boiler has been working fine for about six years without an overrun. Edit to add: I understand that the boiler requires a permanent live supply to allow the flue fan to continue to...

    Ideal Logic Pump Overrun

I'm not a heating engineer but I do have an Ideal Logic heat only boiler. There is no pump overrun on mine but the flue fan does continue to run for ~ 2 minutes after the boiler stops heating, presumably this is to cool the heat exchanger.

    Trackers

That doesn't work very well as the thief with either an Android or iPhone will be notified that the tag is moving with them and the tag will start beeping so that they can easily find it.

The phase out of ice engines..

No increase in premium, just restrictions on where we can store and charge lithium based batteries. We either comply or they remove fire cover from the insurance policy. They are reducing their risk, not increasing the premium.

    Problems with smart TRV

So would I but If a smart TRV is calling for heat then that radiator will also be on, so as a minimum I have 3 radiators and 1 towel rail on.

    Problems with smart TRV

Leave a few radiators without smart TRV's. We have a towel rail + 1 radiator with no TRVs at all and a radiator in the bathroom with a legacy TRV. That basically means that even if only 1 smart TRV calls for heat there will always be enough rads open to dissipate the minimum output of the...

    Alarm fault

Stick your volt meter on the two leads that you have disconnected from the battery. This will tell you what voltage the panel is supplying to the battery.

The phase out of ice engines..

Insurers seem to be getting concerned about lithium batteries now. At this year's business insurance renewal they want to know where we store lithium batteries, where we charge them and how we dispose of them. They are not talking about huge batteries, they are asking about the ones in phones...

The phase out of ice engines..

I fit into that category. A 2 car family, living within a 20 minute walk of a town centre, have my own drive, could easily have a charge point. Currently 1 car is petrol and the other is an electric/petrol hybrid. The reason that neither of the cars are EVs so far are: 1. The extra cost of...

Best way to clean moss off ground?

More accurately the chemicals might enter the soil and ground water where they might cause a miniscule amount of harm to some organism. The little bit of theoretically dangerous chemical that we apply to weeds on our paving will make absolutely no difference to life on Earth at all. It will, of...

Mandatory ID cards (Brit Card) to be announced tomorrow

I wonder how much we will be expected to pay for these cards. Probably priced similar to a passport as they will presumably be doing similar identification checks before issuing a card.

Best way to clean moss off ground?

Be careful with that on paving. It will leave an orange stain.

Water Butt Project - has anyone done this?

I don't understand this bit: Cons: Drain pipe joints are not waterproof. When the water backs up to the level of the first joint it will leak from that joint. The pipe will carry a tiny amount of water compared to a water butt. Water in the pipe will freeze in winter and split the pipe. Pros...
