Air in radiators – running out of ideas !

Thanks very much for this. Point taken about the inhibitor, in future I will add slightly more than needed but not an excessive amount if this is the case. This is more like what I was after, the fact air can be sucked into the system as the plumber originally told me (at the pump). As the...

Air in radiators – running out of ideas !

I'm considering calling Bosch to investigate the possibility air is being pumped into the system, I see no other explaination especially with the plumbers final thoughts on the matter. Anyone disagree or anything else I can try. Thanks alot in advance.

Air in radiators – running out of ideas !

OK first thanks to everyone who has responded so far. It is NOT Hydrogen Sulphide, I know this smell well and the gas from the system is odourless. It is not Hydrogen, bled all three points slowly and the gas will not light. As the original plumber suspected air is being forced into the...

Air in radiators – running out of ideas !

Working on the premise it is hydrogen, remedial action is to replace all the old radiators. I assumed that even if the rads weren't in the best condition, flushing the system then adding 3 times as much inhibitor as required would solve it. Is my thinking flawed ? Thx again for taking the time...

Air in radiators – running out of ideas !

Thx again for a response. I did wonder by what means such a volume of air could be sucked in. Guess this afternoons Hydrogen test may reveal the answer. Will repost. Thank you again for replying.

Air in radiators – running out of ideas !

I might then empty the system (again) as the leak sealer remains in suspension when 'wet' and flush this out (it didn't help anyway) then refill and retreat with inhibitor. It was the plumber who suggested/performed the leak sealer adding so I'm suprised you say it would void any warrantly...

Air in radiators – running out of ideas !

This problem has been bothering me for some time now, I would very much appreciate any ideas people might have, The system is a Worcester Greenstar 24i Condensing Gas Boiler (3 years old) controlling the Central Heating (sealed – top it up using a filling loop) and Hot Water (open vented...

UPVC Door Draught Excluder Gasket Bottom Door Help

Thanks to everyone who tried to help. I have now resolved the matter by a chance meeting with a 30 year veteran of the windows/doors trade who recognised the gasket. I'm posting the information incase anyone else has the same issue. The door I discovered is a Rehau (German) but widely used in...

Many thanks for your comprehensive post, it is as I suspected. I will hold off for better weather as I only intend to do this task once. (Thanks button clicked)

To gloss or not to gloss

The wooden crows feet that immerge under the guttering of my house are in need of a lick of gloss paint. Now I had in mind to paint them this weekend, the forecast is overcast, possibly a little damp but essentially no rain. Many years ago my father was applying gloss paint to an outside wooden...

Lectros Osmotic Damp Proofing System Problem

Extremely interesting post Peet and essentially the final pice of the puzzle. Although my knowledge was sufficient to install the system, my true understanding of its exact operation was lacking. Now I see how the complete circuit is made and why a separate earth rod is required for its use. The...

Lectros Osmotic Damp Proofing System Problem

Amazing what a fresh pair of eyes can do. After I made this post I contacted my pal with the same system who said the only thing he could see was inconsistent was the fact the titanium test wire I had used was not embedded in the wall. He suggested connecting the length of titanium test wire to...

Lectros Osmotic Damp Proofing System Problem

I’m in the process of installing a Lectros Osmotic Damp Proofing System in my Victorian property. After taking advice from two people who install these all the time it seemed extremely easy for someone adept at DIY. Problem is the Power Unit Green LED does not illuminate when the system is...

    Removal Of Floor Tile Adhesive

Yes they are vinyl tiles I'm currently removing. I read that steam (wall paper stripper) might be useful in order to remove the bitumastic adhesive so this is what I will try. Thank you for your advice, I shall now avoid using any form of chemical to remove the remainder of the glue...

    Removal Of Floor Tile Adhesive

In the process of removing some old floor tiles however the old tile adhesive is proving difficult to shift. The adhesive has been layed direct onto concrete (see some of the bare concrete patches showing) and I'm keen to remove all of it with a view to screeding the floor. Likely I will...
