Could you check i am calculating corectly for solar inverter :)

Hi, i have an inverter that is a Growatt 6kw with a max 500v input & 150v start up & the panels are all as per spec below. I have 10 panels & would like to wire them in 2 series of 5 = 10 in total. Which i think is 5x40.25voc = 212.50v Is my figures correct for my inverter & should i take any...

    Replacement downlight

Looks like a bathroom type fitting with a transformer. I would throw both away & pick up a bathroom lightfitting & a 240v led GU10 bulb.& conect straight to the 2 grey "240v" cables coming in

Expansion vessel on unvented hot water tank question.

Expansion vessel on unvented hot water tank question.

Must admit i can only find 32mm MuPVC pipe & fittings. Which is ok as its a 9m run with 2x45 & 2x90 sweeping bends, so boarder line for 22mm. Hopping i can find a 22 to 32mm reducer in plastic. MUPVC. Thanks for the tip, & looks like we are running a 32mm MUPVC pipe to the drain.

Expansion vessel on unvented hot water tank question.

Ah! well done & thanks. The push/glue fit pipe going from the boiler in the loft & connected to the bath waste is dedicated waste pipe all the way to where it connects to the bath which is about 1 meter from the outside drain. So if i separated it from the bath waste & made it direct to the...

Expansion vessel on unvented hot water tank question.

Hi, we are looking at getting a 2 emersion pressurised hot water tank fitted & it will need an expansion vessel. Will it harm or help the hot water if we fitted a larger one. Q&A 2 if i can. Our boiler is in the loft next to where this new hot water tank will go & has an 1"&1/2 waste pipe going...

Anyone seen an inline circular saw brake ??

No not faulty, its just when cutting a lot of wood it takes twice as long compered to one with a brake. Wasn't sure if it could be braked externally via some electronics as i am sure that's how they do it. But may also be done via electronic magnets. There are a lot of lorry brake assists work...

    Immersion heater

Best to use a multi-meter & test the L+N of the flex going to the emersion. If your not confident with testing live electric DONT. With 2 emersions there is a 90% chance the lower one is off peak & will only have power between 12 & 6am on the cheap rate. But the top one should be live 24/7.

    Communal Hallway Wood Work

Totally agree, i rent 3 rooms in my place & if there is a change of lodger a quick scoot around with a brush to touch up is very easy. Quicker than a wash down. Havant had to re-decorate in 8 years & all are happy.

Anyone seen an inline circular saw brake ??

Hi, cant see one on line & was wondering if there was an such a thing as an inline electric circular saw brake ??. The mitre/bench saw i have is fine. But if i am cutting a lots of wood "IE: a hundred pieces" I have to wait for the blade to stop on every cut. Any sensible idea's. ??

    Solar panel/system earthing help needed.

I know some invertor have a relay in them to connect & disconnect the neg/earth, but cant remember if this was on the mains or battery side. Bit of a minefield with solar & not dissimilar to the problems with boat electrics. We need a multi split page book to choose a system being fitted. There...

    Solar panel/system earthing help needed.

We had a power cut a week or two back & it was with the pole & trany outside my place. The engineers got hear & there was smoke & sparks coming out the bottom of the pole. "I assume via the earth" It turns out the natural had failed at the top of the pole & i think it found the next shortest...
