Is adding an indirect cylinder to a combi boiler the right solution?

Well worth checking water pressure & flow rate before fitting a pressurized system. For the sake of a £15 meter & a large bucket for flow rate. Your looking for minimum 1.5-2 bar & a flow rate of 20lt per minuets "Absolute" minimum. Not sure? but you might be better with 2 bathrooms on a larger...

Can I replace this switch with regular socket?

Sorry, but you dont put 0.5 , 0.7 1.0 or 1.5kw storage heaters on a 20 amp switch. You fuse them down with a fused spur fitted with a 5 to 13amp fuse.

    Electric wires cut by vermin?

Had them at my place a couple of year back & it was my fault in that we left half a brick out for a temp sink & they climb in & up the insulation in the cavity wall in my bungalow into the loft & got a taste for my pipe lagging. "Strange" So we got about half a dozon traps & found they liked...

Generator advice needed - thinking of buying one for a small bungalow

I would of thought a change over switch at the main intake would be fine with a 4kw geny, But you need to make sure all heavy items are switched off before starting the geny & throwing the change over switch. And a good heavy duty plug to go into the geny from the mains.

    Electric wires cut by vermin?

Don't forget the mice, lol. We found out a long time ago that they go for cables as its a bi product of oil & all oil has protein in it. Sorry to say, they love it can decimate wiring & even worse if its a flat roof. You need to have a good look around & block every hole & wire mesh if air needs...

How many wires for phone VOIP

You only need 2 wires for the main incoming line, but 3 wires are needed from the main BT master socket to any extension slaves. Terminals 2, 3 & 5. 2 & 5 being line & three is to do with the ringers.

How best to blank off waste pipe boss

Just in case, i would fit a durgo valve. "Think that's how you spell it" Its quite a common item & it lets air into the pipe but not out, pluss they come in most sizes. If you dont have one of these it can restrict the flow of the drain if other pipes are using the same drain. They are around £20. .

Can I replace this switch with regular socket?

Another possibility is was an old night storage heater point. If so, some work would need to be done at the consumer unit end. But this is assuming you had NS heaters at some time. If you did the outlet would only work at curtain times in a 24 hour period.

BR had them in all the main stations in London running up & down the platforms with flat bed trailers unloading goods that were normally in the last few carriages.

    Wattage question

Thanks for that. There seems like there was a lot changes, with reversing lights being one. Here's a daft one. cars before 1990 may have or not reversing lights fitted & wont fail an mot if not working. But cars later than 1990 would fail. I think we also have to remember that cars are made for...

Wiring for Wet Underfloor heating single Zone

You might find zoning a better idea as underfloor heating has different characteristics from radiator heating & will possibly need longer times. In the winter many systems run 24/7 but have ways to cut the boiler back to just a tick over for 2/3rd of that time because of the under floor heating...

    Arrrg…extractor not working

No chance you have a second fan switch at high level, quite often out side & above the bathroom door that might be off.

Please advise me on where this leak might be coming from

Is the pergola new, & did you have this problem before the pergola was built.?? The pergola wall beam looks hefty & i would imagine was held up with large raw-bolts. Its possible they drilled into the cavity & created a leak.

Really bad resin trim job by bathroom fitter

Scape it out & start again. I have found two strips of masking tape works well about 8mm out from the corner & somthing half round to run over the mastic, or a damp finger. Then after 30 seconds pull off the tape.
