What kind of extractor cover and how do i fix it?

Hi, apologies if there is another area to post this I feel like i'm probably not using the right terminology so would appreciate any help. I've had a rewire of the house recently, and we were planning on converting one of the bedrooms to a bathroom in the future, so along with other things we...

Looks like a Sterling one, can find a close fit but it doesn't give details on the narrowest part of the barrel just 15.3mm width.

    Camlock sizing?

I think i'm going mad. Got an external letterbox in the porch. Previous tennants left the camlock in the locked position and didn't hand over the key (they lived down the street for about a year before i got here, so I expect they wanted to continue getting their post like this). Now switching...

Ventilation advice for kitchen -max hood height?

Thanks, yep I understand that bit - there's a sink down the end. The thing is there's an abundance of window on that side, and very little wall. So blocking it up or re-sizing the windows is probably required.

Ventilation advice for kitchen -max hood height?

Thanks guys, I hadn't even thought of that as an issue but will have a rethink. Either way I think committing to a hood at this stage isn't worth it. I'll get the wheels in motion on the window first and see where that leaves us. Poss shift where the cooker sits to the left so it's well clear of...

Ventilation advice for kitchen -max hood height?

That's right yes it's electric. Out of interest how come gas would be against the regs in that position, is it because of the proximity to the unit to the left?

Ventilation advice for kitchen -max hood height?

Hi all, hope this isn't too wrong a place to put this. At the outset of renovating my kitchen, but can't make a decision on whether to bother with an extractor as the hob will be over a metre from where we would put the hood. I can see the regs have a minimum height from the hob, but not sure...

How to repair external render at foot of building

Thanks ree, yes I'm planning on getting it repointed once the weather permits. Was on the fence about trying to do it myself as not only is the amount vast but also not sure my finish would be up to much as a DIY'er. I'll try and get more pics when I'm back there. I think the damp in the rear is...

How to repair external render at foot of building

Thanks John. Plinth, that was the word i was looking for! Yes, old house probs 1880s/90s. I can't see an obvious DPC running through it* but then i'm no expert. No signs of damp on the inside of the main house mind, but there is at the back near the kitchen. *Actually i'll have a dig around...

How to repair external render at foot of building

Area by the corner of the house by the doorstep has gone, what should I use to fill it in? I'll clear the vegetation out beforehand obviously! If it makes any difference, it's a solid wall and this bit will be in front of a suspended timber floor. Any help much appreciated, the more detail...
