    New "Roundup" doesn't work...

Thank you kind Sir - don't know why my Googling didn't find it  Ah... spoke too soon

    New "Roundup" doesn't work...

In common with most gardeners and farmers, I reckon, I've been using this for decades to kill perennial weeds like dandelions. I know there's been a cancer scare etc, but really - don't bathe in it or inhale it. Anyway, if you buy Roundup now, although the bottle and label are virtually...

    New seals for mahogany frames?

I live in a 30-year-old bungalow, originally with mahogany-framed DG windows. The frames at the front of the house had started to rot, and several blown panels, so a few years ago I got them replaced. Unfortunately some of the work was very unsatisfactory, ending up in my having to threaten...

    Can I replace this hose?

Well, just in case anybody's interested... heating guy came today to do the annual service, poked around a lot with his gas analyser, and found it wasn't leaking from that pipe at all, but from the seal where the flue connects to the boiler - so of course it's CO leaking out. Fortunately it's...

    Replacing a single panel (Camden)

Thanks, that's really useful, and what I really wanted to know - that it's not something I can tackle myself. I'm not sure about claiming under warranty - thwn I originally had the problem, I spoke to Camden, and they were very unhelpful, saying to talk to the installer. Maybe I'll try them...

    Replacing a single panel (Camden)

So a couple of years ago, I forgot my grandfather’s ancient advice about never doing business with friends or family, and got a firm owned by someone I thought of as a friend to put several new windows in for me. In fairness, the actual work seemed really good – invisibly plastered in etc. But...

    Can I replace this hose?

Yeah, they say it's a common problem with these. Booked in for a service in a month's time - soonest I could get  and they'll replace the hose on the day. Thanks everybody (y)

    Can I replace this hose?

Ah right, sorry about that. Guess I'll contact the guys who service it - will report back.

    Can I replace this hose?

Yeah that's true. Good thing I don't often sleep in the garage... And of course the CO detector :D So what is that pipe for? Seems to connect to the kind of jacket of the flue, so maybe nothing to do with exhaust gases at all...

    Can I replace this hose?

Sorry, me not knowing what I'm talking about as usual. It might be steam coming out - is that likely? Come to think of it, there's no smell of fumes in the garage... the big plastic hose seems to be leaking where it joins the actual burner - I can see what may be vapour coming out?

    Can I replace this hose?

    It's an oil boiler - sorry I didn't say

    Can I replace this hose?

Just noticed there's exhaust gas leaking out from where this plastic pipe joins the flue, and it looks a bit knackered. It *LOOKS* like a simple question of turning it off, undoing the Jubilee clips, and replacing the hose.... am I right, or is there more to it than that? If I can do it, where...

    Sliding wardrobe door tracks

Thanks, but I think yours must be a newer system - maybe introduced because of my problem! I've had the doors out when I replaced the wheels, and there's no rail/wheels at the top - just a bit of plastic to stop it flopping about. The doors are very heavy, which is presumably why the wheels...

    Sliding wardrobe door tracks

I replaced the little wheels on the bottom of my wardrobe doors, but now the tracks themselves seem to have collapsed, as though the wheels have worn through them or something. Sorry no pic of damage as it's really hard to get that door to slide... Anyway, does anyone recognise the kind of...

    Which to choose...

Haven't measured it - I suppose at the end of the day I (who know nothing about these things) just have to trust somebody. They're a long-established, apparently reputable firm, OFTEC etc. Maybe it's a bad photo? There isn't a pipe on the path, unless you mean the yellow hose I was using? The...

    Which to choose...

Heard banging outside my bedroom window at 07:15 this morning - two hours later, all done. I had to sign some sort of form allowing OFTEC to come and inspect it, so I assume all in order - certainly looks OK to my uneducated eye.

    Which to choose...

Thanks - will ask questions, but he did do a lot of measuring round the existing tank and base before saying all would be OK...
  18. Roger465

    Which to choose...

Umm... he said they'd lay 3 concrete lintels on the existing base, and put the tank on that? In what ways do you think the base would be inadequate? Seems to have kept the existing tank flat & level for 30 years...

    Which to choose...

Yes - the guy spent half the time quoting regs to me - pretty sure it'll be done right (y)
