Compression fittings, better to replace brass with copper olives?

I keep a bag of copper olives in my toolbox in case I have to break into or connect to plastic pipe, in which case I swop the brass olives for copper and use stainless steel inserts. Otherwise, I just use the fittings “as they come” and never had any major problems.

    Texecom veritas R8

Have a look in the manuals section for your manual, that should take you through the programming options. Default codes are 1234 and 4321, if the panel has defaulted these should work unless the Engineer Code has been locked, in which case it’s time for a new panel if you can’t get hold of the...

    Testing pipework

Yes, linking the F & R pipes together is fine.

    Testing pipework

With demountable pushfit fittings general rule of thumb would be a low pressure test (.5 - 1.0 bar) followed by a further test around 1.5 x working pressure for about an hour. Older style pushfit fittings (“O” ring first / grab ring second) require an increased pressure test of 18 bar. This is...

    What liners for this plastic

The pipe looks to me as though it’s Hep2o barrier pipe, they used the Red markings to denote that it’s barrier pipe (standard or solid wall pipe has black marking) they also used the H and V depth insertion marks on the pipe. I would definitely use a stainless steel (Hep2o) insert with a...

Do you recommend Push Fit Copper Fittings?

Did some work for English Heritage quit a few years ago, no hot works allowed in the roof space.

    Does this look normal?

I would imagine (if installed as I would ) there will be no more joints on the 10mm pipe until the radiator valves, so if no leak visible on the manifolds and none at the rad valves it’s unlikely to be on the plastic side, unless there are elbows where the pipes come out from the wall / floor...

    Does this look normal?

Quite normal practice, 22mm Flow and Return into manifolds with a number of 10mm pipes serving your radiators. As already mentioned, plastic 10mm has a much reduced internal bore than copper pipe, having said that the majority of new build properties are piped in this way, they can become...

Which Boiler should I go with.

I had a similar issue with my daughters boiler, her existing Glowworm Ultimate had a rear flue, I couldn’t drop the boiler enough to reuse the hole for the flue and couldn’t raise the flue because of restricted ceiling height in the utility room. I opted for a Vaillant EcoFit Pure 615 with a...

    Looking recommendations on home cctv

As long as you buy the DVR / NVR with the required number of channels / camera inputs you can alway start with a few cameras and add further cameras at a later date. There’s an old saying that I’m always aware of when buying goods “buy cheap, buy twice”

    Looking recommendations on home cctv

Fitted a few Hikvision systems for family and friends, great kit and have had no problems. They do a range of colour at night cameras Darkfighter and ColorVu I have fitted some other cheaper makes but not a patch on Hikvision and I would steer clear of some of the “budget” brands.

    28mm plastic pipe and conduit

28mm plastic pipe isn’t really that flexible, probably the reason why they don’t do pipe in pipe in 28mm.

best outdoor camera for gutter surveillance

I understand what you are trying to achieve but don’t see how a camera is going to help. Every time you get heavy rain, you’ll be watching the monitor (probably better than watching some of the dross on broadcast Television) assuming you are at home at the time or you have a system that can be...

    Panasonic 55HZ980 Panel Maintenance Failure

UPDATE If anyone else is struggling with the panel maintenance not completing, I disconnected all the HDMI, USB, Ethernet & Jack connectors and ran the panel maintenance program with just the aerial connected and it completed first time.

Do I really need a new boiler ?

My daughter moved into a house with a Glowworm Ultimate boiler that was put in when the house was built, I repaired it a number of times for her, 2 PCB’s, air pressure switch, electrode plus other external components, pump, mid position valve, controls etc over a period of about 3 years. Each...

UFH Pipes - Which brand? order from?

Pipe types are normally Polybutylene, PEX or MLC and domestic systems tend to be 10mm (in overlay type UFH) and either 15mm or 16mm in screed. As already mentioned, there are plenty of companies / manufacturers that will help with system design, length of circuits, pipe centres etc.

    Panasonic 55HZ980 Panel Maintenance Failure

Thanks, I’d already googled and found that thread, unfortunately tried those suggestions but no luck. Although some of those options appear slightly different on her model, no DNLA Server, but there is a Home Network which I’ve turned off. Many thanks anyway. I’ll hold off on the factory...

    Panasonic 55HZ980 Panel Maintenance Failure

My daughter has a Panasonic OLED television, model number 55HZ980, she keeps getting a message that says ”the panel maintenance has failed to complete”, and when on standby the light is orange rather than red. She hasn’t got a USB or HDD connected, no recordings scheduled, she’s tried turning...
