Hyundai Plate Compacter (Wacker) HYCP9070 Info Thread

I've got a Hyundai quiet air compressor..it does the job but the quality is dire. They badge up junk. I don't trust the cylinder (so much rusty water when draining) after only 18 months. The threads could have been cut with a grinder they're so poorly formed.

FCU not permitted for immersion heaters, really?

Here's common heater fitted to some unvented cylinders...there's barely room for 1.5mm cable.

FCU not permitted for immersion heaters, really?

In this case the 2mm extra diameter of the larger cable makes it impossible to fit safely...the cable clamp will not accommodate that size and due to the ever decreasing size and cheapening down of immersion heaters the cores would be under significant strain when routed from the clamp to the...

    Condensate pipe freezing

Is the pipework compliant with the boiler installation instructions? FCU not permitted for immersion heaters, really?

T&E has never been acceptable to feed an immersion heater. I'm only talking round cable here. On a recent job the cable clamps supplied with the immersion heaters were not suitable for the existing 2.5mm² round cable....so the contractor binned off the cable clamps and left the elements with no...

FCU not permitted for immersion heaters, really?

The cable clamps inside immersion heaters are often designed for a maximum cable size of 1.5mm² so is it compliant to use that sized cable with a 16A MCB alone (and no FCU). I'm after answers from qualified electricians...

    Pump Running, but no demand

Often the spring lugs break off and the valve doesn't fully return leaving the microswitch closed despite the motor being unpowered.

FCU not permitted for immersion heaters, really?

Everyone ok with using 1.5mm² to the immersion heater (that's what the cable clamps designed for) on a 16A breaker?

    Pump Running, but no demand

A very common fault on Drayton actuators is for a return spring mounting lug to break off. If you unclip the head (unless it's a very old type) you can normally pull the end of the spring through the case hole.

Tribune HE PRV 3/6 bar to 3/8 bar

Get him to whatsapp a pic of it...illegal to work on unventeds without it.

Tribune HE PRV 3/6 bar to 3/8 bar

AFAIK Kingspan just buy in and rebadge the cylinder and now that Range are in administration offer no support. https://www.rangecylinders.co.uk/ There are several merchants that specislise in parts for these cylinders..you will have no trouble obtaining correct parts.

Tribune HE PRV 3/6 bar to 3/8 bar

Even the whole inlet set is rarely more than £50. The control inlet set for older cylinders often becomes obsolete but the cylinder manufacturer will have alternatives. Whilst an 8 bar expansion relief is normal for some cylinder makes I can find no reference to the Tribune ever having anything...

Tribune HE PRV 3/6 bar to 3/8 bar

He's lazy and incompetent...the correct expansion relief valve is 6 bar and readilly available from many specialist suppliers. Typically £15 to £20 plus del. The dripping valve is normally due to insufficient air charge in the vessel but can be down to several other reasons. Get him back and...

Range Tribune HE only heats on Sink setting

Do mean you have a switch on the wall (sink) that just turns on the upper heating element? And a lower element that only turns on overnight on cheap rate electric. Perhaps the lower heater has failed or the cheap rate electric is not being enabled.

Radiators not piping hot last year

The Powermax is an unusual design and 9 out of 10 installers won't understand it. It's basically a conventional heat only boiler combined with a small unvented cylinder. This gives an (initial) exceptional hot water flowrate to feed the extra demand when all hot outlets are in operation. The...

New gas main, gas engineer will not reconnect 2 appliances

It sounds like the appliances are all very old and obsolete in which case no sensible gas installer will want to deal with (there are also many regulations regarding flueless and open flued appliances) and in a renovation the builders/homeowner will often ignore. Just buy a cheap electric...

    Leaking Telescopic Radiator Valve

Professional plumber...chancer, he fitted it knowing it will eventually leak and create business. Post a pic of that lockshield spindle...it looks cheap and again will eventually leak. Merchants sell crap parts for the dross of this trade to fit and maximise income. BS2767-10 written on the cap...
