    Paddle Mixer Bricklaying Mortar

I built my entire extension with a paddle mixer, and a Brickie, it didn't matter that much with the Brickie but the mortar wasn't buttery like on those videos. I put it down to the paddle mixer not "folding" the mix and thus mixing air into it.

    Freeview aerial comparison

I need an aerial upgrade for my new Manhattan T4R, will one of those £10 things work in the loft? We're 10 miles from Winter Hill. Current one is intermittent.

How to taper a decking board

In my opinion, hacking it with a handsaw will look horrendous, especially if the boards have grooves and rounded edges. Can't you fix whatever is making it out of square?

arco drain needed and the quotes are in ....(can I do it myself?)

The ground level looks high and that pink render looks low, I wouldn't rush into anything without a thorough investigation. For £2.8k, as a diyer I'd expect to sort the render, ground level, drainage, replace all the paving and extend the patio in front of the french doors.

Dot'n'dab - fixings into the wall?

If you're just fixing a few strips up the wall to form the sides of your "box" then no nails will do it.

Notching joists to lower them in a garage.

Drop them on some hangars or sit on a ledger and connect to your rafters with plywood sheathing.

Anyway to repair this Power washer cable? (photos)

Buy some "self amalgamating" tape, ideal for repairing that - it fuses together as you apply it.

dont understand height of these step ladders

Same, I've been looking recently - stand on tiptoes, arms stretched out, long bit in your drill and a little jump and you're nearly 3m above the platform.

Cheap easy way to make stairs look good

As a sort of experiment, I've clad our stairs in LVT. As to whether it's "looking good" or not, the jury's still out.

    Poor hot water system.

The cylinder is actually on the floor, so presumably all the HW is pumped. He's ordered a pressure gauge and he's going to establish pressure and flow in the first instance - the closest he'll get to the incoming main will be the WM tap in the utility but hopefully will give a reasonable...

    Wallpaper pattern repeat.

Made my head hurt so I printed it off and cut it to match. I get about 1.24m of matching drop. I really needed the full 1.6m which would go down to just above the top of the bench (it will be paneled below). The 1.24 stops midway between the light switch and the bench so I don't know whether...

    Wallpaper pattern repeat.

Can anyone identify the pattern repeat? Product is FETHR, Birds Birds. I want to cut them exactly in half horizontally to make a row of 6 pieces.

    ****ty life

I meant "fund" the LISA for his daughter. But irrelevant as she's abandoning the UK. I've just started one for my eldest. I transfer him £4k, sit there while he transfers it to the LISA app which on my phone (funds have to come from his named account). He's young and has no interest in it - not...

    Poor hot water system.

Thanks. I'll get them to check pressure and flow and establish the source of the supply pipe. It's Cruden Bay, near Peterhead.

    Poor hot water system.

A mains plastic supply pipe that runs over (or rather under) fields from a nearby farm.

Non-setting adhesive to hold splashback to wall?

I'd be happy with Stixall round the perimeter, say about 25mm so you could chop it out if necessary (not sure why). My big mirror stuck on with Stixall:

    Poor hot water system.

My brother lives in Scotland in a former farmhouse. Old floor standing heat only boiler that appears to run well. There's a copper cylinder in a cupboard next to it, I think at about worktop height Two bathrooms, both with electric showers, downstairs has a bath. We used the first floor...

    ****ty life

As above, when you don't have a great deal, it's more about the pensions tax relief than taking risk to maximise returns. For your daughter, you should be funding a LISA for her, £4,000 a year, every year for as long as you can - if you'd done it last week and this week she'd already have...

    Brakes 51 Reg Ford Focus

My advice would be to lock it away for a few years - a future modern classic.
