    1930’s fireplace advice.

I can be even more pedantic - the "it" refers to the arch, not to the lintel, so "below it" is correct...

    Patio weeds

Personally, I'd find a plant that would grow in there that would give an even attractive framing to the slabs and plant it - Corsican mint comes to mind...

    Microsoft subscription

Just to check - are there other people using your subscription? If not then go for personal rather than family - it's cheaper.

Yes, that seems about right I'm afraid. What I've done is to insist on the version without ai, which is a bit cheaper - I think it's called office classic?

    Fibreglass insulation

It is a con, pure and simple. If you decide to put in more insulation, just buy some and lay it over the top.

Two part question : Has anybody used a decking kit and are they worth it? / Is decking a good idea in this area.

I find the chairs and tables very steady on gravel - if they aren't level you can just screw them into the gravel a bit. I've been surprised how successful it's been

Two part question : Has anybody used a decking kit and are they worth it? / Is decking a good idea in this area.

I'd be tempted to make a low edge with stone/blocks/slabs around a new sitting area, and fill it with gravel - cheap, easy, and works well for us.

How do i get this to stick to glass?

I found it didn't work well to stick my phone to the windscreen with whale's nostrils, but I guess it's worth a try?

    Joining an RSJ.

My amateur thought is that it depends if the central wall is loadbearing. If it is, then the steel(s) above would have been specced to only span halfway, so wouldn't be beefy enough to go all the way across. It also depends on what load that wall is carrying from the room(s) above.

Are you planning to keep a central column, or remove the wall completely?

    Electric vans

I'm impressed at the impressive suggestion of such sheer wilful ignorance: "there is no way of knowing" In this home, as in many others, the car is charged by a granny lead on most nights, and I'd be hard pressed to avoid knowing how much electricity is used to charge the car.

    Electric vans

I'm intrigued - how can these people not know how much electricity they are using? It's kind of oddly impressive to have aquaintances with such an unusually distant relationship with reality - perhaps it is an emerging niche form of non-attachment to reality meditation practice?

    Repairing some celling's

probably a continual stream of thoughtless uninformed questions... Or a joyful invasion of benign aliens? Perhaps some kind of snooker club/post apocalyptic glamping site mashup? Or maybe just a continued unwillingness to do some basic maths? Perhaps an ongoing expectation that random...
