Hi

After 20 years my kitchen badly needs renovating so I’m hoping for a little advice please.
Am I right in saying nowadays tiling a kitchen wall is not the done thing? Smooth walls more the fashion with upstand?

If I remove the tiles it ok to just paint around the window or would a shelf/sill be required?

Any advice would be very much appreciated.

Thanks

Tiles coming off will cause all sorts of damages and may expose the cavity at the window sill.
Up to you want you do.
Wooden window sill are popular obviously.
Tile or acrylic board's or whatever else takes your fancy as no specific trend.
Go look at what is on offer at a local showroom
