    Flat heating/hotwater improvements....choices....

That would be good for the EPC rating and future running costs, whatever else you do.

    practical interpretation of insulation readings

What is the spec of the cable? What was its insulation resistance when new? Look for deterioration compared to spec or a previous measurement.

    Consumer unit Wiring Containment

What was your reason for getting the EICR done? How did you select the electrician? It seems to be common practice for electricians to offer relatively cheap EICRs in the expectation that the homeowner will commission them to do the expensive remedial work that they claim is needed. We have...

    Consumer unit Wiring Containment

We still can’t see how the cables enter consumer unit! (P.S. do you have two electric showers?)

    Flat heating/hotwater improvements....choices....

If you had the possibility of electric heat pump heating, this would be a concern. But not if you don’t. Policy might be to progressively encourage gas users who can to get heat pumps. The transition can’t be too quick because we need to build more (nuclear / renewable) power stations to power...

    Fence gap (gap in knowledge)

Timber is typically sawn first, and then optionally planed. Sometimes you are shown the dimensions for the sawn size before planing, which is a few mm larger than the finished size; sometimes both are shown. For example, here is a screenshot from the Wickes website for timber that they call 44 x...

Flue inside lean-to with a difference

In concentric flues, the hot outgoing gas is in the middle and the cold incoming air is around the outsides. So I would like to think that the outside of the flue would be relatively cool. Have you felt the existing flue when the boiler is running? (I’m not a gas installer!)

    Plants.

Have a wander around and look in other gardens, parks etc. for things that are in flower now that you like. Daffodils, tulips, bluebells etc. Make a list, put it somewhere safe, and buy them in the autumn (mostly as bulbs) for next year. Maybe think about where you’ll plant them and leave space...

    Coax over Ethernet?

I’ve just done a quick test, splicing various wires into the aerial feed to my TV. 50cm of mains cable (T&E) doesn’t work. About 20m of phone wire (on a drum) doesn’t work. 3m of CAT5E does work! That is with just bodges at the connections, holding wires together by hand etc. I’ve not tried to...

    Coax over Ethernet?

Yes, and it seems that no-one makes a “DVB-T Radio”, i.e. a device that looks like a radio i.e. no screen but receives audio-only DVB-T channels. I’d buy one if someone made one.

    Glass in door not sealed?

You should ask in “windows and doors”. How they should be sealed could be a bit complicated, but if you’re seeing dampness inside when it rains then that’s not good. Get the installer back.
