    Log periodic aerial elements length

Loft can be full of 'standing wave' reflections... So be prepared to move the aerial higher/lower., crab left/right and fore/aft in a cube of space with 1 metre sides... checking all 6 mux frequencies on the TV meter... all the while pointing directly at the transmitter. Professionals use a...

    Log periodic aerial elements length

My former colleague John Riley of BBC R&D published the theory and plans to make one, a long time ago... albeit that'll have been for frequency channels 21-68 inclusive. https://downloads.bbc.co.uk/rd/pubs/reports/1973-24.pdf and an earlier report was...

    Long screws - recommendation

eBay - Jones DIY sell pack of 10 6mm x 200mm wood screws for £7.49 inc P&P. It was the first one I found... Sure there will many other sellers on there... Or find an old fashioned Ironmongers or timber yard that might keep and sell split packs of screws. Giving your (approx) location may...

    Thermostatic shower mixer ID

I doubt it, with those shape control knobs and no "Grohe" imprint on the body. Google Lens suggests https://www.fixthebog.uk/aqualisa-910071-replacement-contract-midas-100fs-bar-valve/ which has similar shaped handles, temperature control on right and mixed connection out to hose on left...

Is this 6mm or 10mm cable?

You'd be best saying why you need to know the CSA of this cable and are obsessing over the dimensions of the one installed. Is it the cable to the 'extension DB' in https://www.diynot.com/diy/threads/cable-size-for-two-ovens-and-a-hob-from-extension-cu-with-6mm-supply.655113/ perhaps? You...

Is this 6mm or 10mm cable?

https://assets.cef.co.uk/downloads/pdg/prysmian_6242y_datasheet/prysmian_6242y_datasheet.pdf has the dimensions of one maker's cable... 6.8mm cf 8.4mm and 13.1mm cf 16.8mm for the two dimensions pictured (with that rule positioned too poorly for even the wildest guesstimation). Provide a better...

Order of kitchen appliances from pipework....?

Sometimes the waste exit and fall to the outside drains may make one location preferable, especially if the 'services' are at very low level as here? Just to get an acceptable fall. or one has to run such pipework inside the cabinets with loss of space, joins holes etc.,. Or create a rear...

Cable nail pins for masonry wall

Hot melt glue might work; depending on its UV resistance. Hope the cable is proper external grade. Alternatively I'd suggest using smallish nylon P clips with pan head (stainless) screws and plugs. Would take far longer of course. Another alternative would be 22 mm plastic conduit and run...

Ethernet cable for internet: over roof?

If it's a work thing then get them to supply the dedicated connection... at their cost and get them to work out any wayleaves needed to get the connection at the back of your home, where you want it. When I worked we got ADSL lines installed for home working and those connected into secure...

Ethernet cable for internet: over roof?

Exact wording of that contract might make a difference. ;) What happens if you have a fall-over to mobile data when there is a fibre outage? Would clients object? NB Powerlines are "wired" they use the house mains to transmit the signals between the units. But they don't like being on...

Connecting 4 food warmers to a single/double socket?

"No extension lead" is to avoid a cable trip / pull warmer and hot foods over type hazard... Nothing to do with a power / current rating. Partially a makers' rear end covering exercise. Same with kettles, air fryers, slow cookers and other appliances with super short leads on them nowadays...

Ethernet cable for internet: over roof?

Over the roof is bodgers way of doing something... cable would need clipping to tiles to stop moving... https://www.aerialsandtv.com/knowledge/cable-connectors-and-leads#cable-over-roofs is an aerial installers take on the issue of cables over roofs and shows what damage the wind and rain does...

Which Radiator Make and TRV / Lockshield?

Part of Stelrad group, apparently and thus still made in UK. TRVs/lockshields Pegler Terrier (or Bulldog rebranded ones) seem OK from my DIY experience of them, and you can get them with a drain-off if you want that feature. The pro experts will have their own preferences / recommendations...

    Chameleon IHD7 - Smart Meters

EDIT: WiFi is for CAD integrated versions and merely allows your supplier's App to display real time on it via a phone etc,., Alternatively the iVie app from Chameleon can do the same stuff. Bright do similar with Hildebrand IHD CAD... that integrates to Home Assistant. Dunno if Chameleon does.

    Chameleon IHD7 - Smart Meters

I know they exist Suspect https://chameleontechnology.co.uk/smart-in-home-displays/ will be the place to find the manuals etc.,. The EoN IHD I have is a crippled Chameleon unit so lives in it's box. Half hourly readings via Bright and my EVSE tell me what electric I use via Apps if I need to...
