Who thinks Labour are doing well?

Probably not as damaging as Bliar's yet; Starmer certainly seems to have learnt from Bliar's support of GWB in the middle east. UK wise, in my opinion, he's in a difficult place with union 'support'(?) and having to follow many of their wants/dictats. Many ways this government is Anti-British...

    Land Rover (army) Replacement

So what is the consensus on a suitable if not likely replacement..? From what I see the 'new' Defender (really a MK1/2/3 Discovery replacement) isn't likely to be good enough as it's a Monocoque body shell so open top isn't possible without substantial reinforcement and therefore weight. The...

    Sash window painting

Sand the loose paint and timber off. Yes to wood hardener. Fill the gaps with flexible, paintable filler. Allow to dry then paint using your preferred system. In the older days the gaps would have been filled with linseed oil putty - but that does harden over time.

    Holiday with my Girls.

Would have suggested Malta - I returned there 15 times in 18 years, missed for some 15 years then about 10 years ago; but their attitudes have changed, us British aren't loved as much as we were. There still is lots to see and do, even the 3 cities were friendly last time I went but not sure...

    Has anyone done this claim?

You need to ask them what their terms (costs) of business is. When I used a company for the diesel claim they took something like 40%. You also need to check how they give you your share of the cash, some of them use a third party company the banks haven't heard of.

    No more hereditary peers

I'm not entirely sure that I'm happy with the changes to the 2nd chamber in government. Taking away heredity peers satisfies some as they can be seen as privileged and out of touch but have the whole of the second chamber dependant on the wim and wit of one person - the PM is if anything, I...

What have you been doing today?

Please - NO! Especially If you have not been shown (trained) to use one properly and safely as they can be so b****y dangerous. Using one close to the ground can cause the chain to pick up soil and stone shooting it around. Buy a reciprocating saw instead; a bit slower to use but far more...

Where do you put stuff, to be handy?

In the 1980's my then employer issued an edict that all 'squirrel stores' had to cleared from buildings and disposed of appropriately... Less than a year there came a request for numbers of equipment parts to build some test kit, of course by then no one had such components surplus and so the...

Where do you put stuff, to be handy?

Used to have a stack of clear plastic boxes to keep 'stuff' together and out of the way; the boxes finally failed due to UV degradation. Replaced with a home made chest of drawers, the same size as the plastic box stack. Can I find things in there now? Not easily as the wife puts things away...

I'll be contentious - I'd say you have to have been in full employment or in University education for 2 years before you can vote.

Should there be a general election when Starmer gets booted?

Even if KS managed to negotiate the UK's re-admittance to the EU I believe it wouldn't be on the favourable terms we had. Re-admittance means we would loose the Pound Sterling amongst many other things. Would we get any of the EU bodies back, unlikely. Would we get the EU's Financial Centre...
