    Cladding for Front of House

You don't paint Cedral, that defeats the whole purpose.

UPVC cladding exterior- what the catch?

You should consider Marley Eternit Cedral Weatherboard, a manmade timber cladding, a hundred times more attractive than upvc and pretty comparable in cost I recall especially if DIYing.

Exterior Plyboard for a garden workshop

Thanks Notch. I have been looking further into this and come across products I had never really contemplated - like Cedral and HardiePlanks. As I mentioned above, I am looking for cladding for the unseen sides which will have the least exposure to the weather. Aesthetics will play no part...

    Cheapest way to finish blocks?

Cement cladding like cedral. I don't think particularly cheap but maintenance free etc. If you can only see the front then as said the back and sides could be neatly pointed and painted.

    Marley Cedral Cladding (pics).

Anyone got any experience of the cedral “wood” colours like cedar etc? Was thinking of them for mine. Not sure how close to the real thing they look, but not having to treat them to keep the colour could be handy.

    Cladding gable ends advice

My bungalow is finished with Cedral, just nailed to ply walls ( so different construction method , but yours could be fitted to battens .I would not use a membrane as you need to keep the original render well ventilated .

Hollow soffit board use as cladding

I'm sorry, I can't answer your question. But have you considered getting cement fibre board cladding, such as Cedral? They look far better than uPVC cladding, have better fire resistance and will last longer.

    Roofing = Hard work!!

Yes. Start it in the a.m. Fixing the battens first, breather membrane, starter trim, window and corner trims and then start fixing the Cedral.

    Shed Cladding...

Thanks, the link does include one decent option Marley Cedral which I've never heard of so a good start. There must be other options but the term fibre cement weatherboard gives me a term to use in my search.

Correct. All the vented trims etc are usually stocked by the suppliers. Finding a stockist is the hard part.

    fibre cement weatherboarding

...are worth their weight in gold. Talking of which I was told that Hardiplank is the better and most recent technology- lighter weight than Cedral, which might be more practical on single brick with timber battoning? I am still wondering whether the extra cost will be justified as the...

    Marley Cedral Weatherboard

Hi. I am considering cladding the entire rear of my property and an extension in the cement board by Marley. The raer measures about 34' x 90' plus a 20' x 20' x 16' extension. Several questions. Any problems with this material, is timber just as good or better, does it NEED painting, where...

Timber frame extension 2nd storey with 1m of boundary.

Are you within 1m or actually at 1m? Not impressed with an "architect" who would offer that detail TBH (and speccing marine ply is OTT). Cedral board would be close visually to your original idea. If planning was involved then changing the appearance might require a revised application.

Yeah, totally just doesn't have the same cachet as lashing one of these behind the wood burner! :D /s
