Fuel tank breather on a pole saw.

Thank you John. Yes, got the long-ish pick-up pipe with the filter on the end going up to the carb, and the overflow pipe from carb back to the tank but surely, if the tank is completely filled to the top of the neck then the tank breather, even if just level with the bottom of the grommet...

Fuel tank breather on a pole saw.

Thank you for the quick response John. I actually mis-laid the original breather and pipe and I was certain that there was quite a length of pipe going down into the tank but couldn't understand how that would work if the end of the pipe was below the level of fuel.

Fuel tank breather on a pole saw.

Have just purchased a new breather for the pole saw fuel tank - never been involved with a separate breather before, always been done through the filler cap. I have the correct size pipe but can anyone tell me if if the pipe can be any length once it enters the tank or does it just have to be...

    Query about AA/AAA battery charger.

Many thanks to both of you. I will take the advice from you both and buy a U.K. charger and not mess about with this.

    Query about AA/AAA battery charger.

I bought a battery charger when on holiday in Canada a few years ago, obviously it was a 120v. Is there any kind of adaptor that I can use with it that will convert 240v to 120v and which will connect the existing charger to a 13amp socket. Sorry if it's a stupid question and many thanks for...

Smart stick/plug for a Panasonic TV

I do not think I answered my own question at all. Panasonic informed me, in a very polite and helpful reply to my email to them, that the dedicated Wireless LAN Adapter, Part No. TY-WL20E, had been discontinued and that I was unlikely to find one anywhere. This was not a stick as such insofar as...

Smart stick/plug for a Panasonic TV

Looking for a bit of help if possible please. I have a 2012 Panasonic television, model No. EX-L42E5B. I would like to connect it to my router because of the current Covid19 crisis. We are out in the sticks and don't get a daily newspaper. I can read the paper on the desktop but would like to...

    Noisy cistern.

Thank you for that. I had actually just been looking at some YouTube videos explaining how to dismantle that valve. Having said that the cistern is shutting off as it should. The problem was that just when the filling cycle was complete we were getting a "clunking" noise. I say "were" because...

    Noisy cistern.

Thank you for that. I've never been that impressed by the arrestor under the sink. We have combination taps everywhere (I think that's what you call them - one handle and side to side for hot/cold and up and down for on and off) and it is possible to shut the water off in a nano second as...

    Noisy cistern.

Thank you for that. Our shock arrestor was placed under the sink in the kitchen because the if the combination tap was turned off abruptly it would make a clunking noise in the tank room upstairs. I am assuming that this arrestor won't have any effect on the downstairs loo Y/N ?

    Noisy cistern.

Thank you for that. Is it possible to get spares for various parts of the valve or is it a complete unit if I need to replace something ?

    Noisy cistern.

Thank you for that. That sounds very helpful. In fact I Googled Siamp and found lots of stuff about them, including their own web site. I will be taking the top off the cistern again and investigating. And thank you for your signature which mentions the Thanks button. I hadn't seen that. All...

    Noisy cistern.

Thank you for that. Is that a Fluidmaster valve in there then ? I have Googled & YouTube'd that and plenty of stuff on the 'net about them. I thought it might be wear and tear, it's the downstairs loo and gets used more than any other. Thank you for reminding me about the float not touching the...

    Noisy cistern.

Thank you for that. I'll have a look to see if I can detect a nut under the float valve but you have been very helpful today. It's good to know what the rust/limescale is and what it's covering. Thank you very much.

    Noisy cistern.

Thank you for that. I suppose I will have to take the old one out to find out what sort it is. Another thing I don't understand is why did I find a small piece of mortar (I think) in the bottom of the cistern and there appears to be 2 holes at the bottom which can just be seen and it looks as if...

    Noisy cistern.

Thank you for that. It is one of those loos where you can't see any pipework to fit an arrester. It was installed when the house was built around 9 years ago but what I don't understand is why it has only just started to make the noise. I don't think the mains pressure has increased. We are out...

    Noisy cistern.

Thank you for that. Yes, the clunk sound happens just as the water stops coming into the cistern (when the water level is just at the top of the float valve) . Can I take the float valve out out and dismantle it and fix something in there or is it a complete new set of innards for the cistern ?

    Noisy cistern.

Thank you for that. No, never had it before in this type of situation but we had it shortly after finishing the house build about 9 years ago when we turned a kitchen tap off. Our plumber put a device in the line that I think took some of the "sting" out of suddenly turning the tap off. I...

    Noisy cistern.

I wonder if anyone can help please ? One of our toilet cisterns has developed a "clunking" noise when the re-filling process finishes. It does it on both the long and short flush. It's about 9 years old. I know my way around ball valves but this is all new to me. Can anyone tell me why it is...
